I'm guessing that if you looked back on the records for most playoff / championship appearances it would be dominated by public schools.

Applington-Parkersburg?
Solon?
Valley?
Bettendorf?
The answer is yes...sort of. Those programs recruit themselves because they're committed to football excellence. Are these Catholic schools listed somehow not supposed to otherwise be there? That's Heelan's sixth state championship and as far as I know those other schools like Kuemper, Dowling, St. Ed's etc. have had many, many good football teams. Some schools are football schools, nothing more, nothing less.
