Hp Touchpad Firesale

so basically web os is like android ran by HP?

if android picks this thing up it will be like the current android tablets?

WebOS is just the name for the operating system from HP, just like Android is the operating system...

I doubt Android will ever officially pick up the WebOS system, but all of the developers will 'hack' the WebOS system into an Android-based operating system.

With all of the HP Touchpad's being sold today I'm pretty confident that a Android 'hack' will be coming pretty soon.

earlier today i felt like this was either going to be the best 100 bucks spent or the worst 100 bucks spent. but now that im thinking about it, if the thing sucks im only out a 100 bucks. and you really cant buy much with a 100 dollars. i hope this works out we will know tomorow.

even if it isnt up to par, i will stay have a good web browser and music player really the only two functions i will ever use.

glad i jumped in the 100 dollars is worth the price of this entertainment wish it would have happened earlier this summer when i was bored out of my mind.

I have no doubt that it will be done, I was stating that Android (Google) will not likely pick up the WebOS system officially; it will all be done by individual developers.

In fact I've seen some people state that it could be done by the end of this week with a few developers already have completed most of the work needed to be done, just testing and making sure it is stable...

If you get it and you really don't like it I still have pretty good confidence in that you'll be able to sell it back for at least the price you paid.

They are already making progress, Its going to be called TouchDroid. Android means, lots of developers, tons of apps. Basically if they get a bug free Android hack on the touchpad, it turns it into a steal of a buy.

I saw on twitter, a guy was researching how much it cost HP to build the 16gb touchpad, and he found like $309. Its a pretty safe purchase at 100, even if you get it and hate it, Your likely to be able to ATLEAST get your money back. And for the guys who bought a handful of these things, Id hang on to a few, Because if an Android port comes out, The value of these things skyrocket, dont think Ipad prices, but id see getting 250-300 out of them no problem if an effective Android OS comes, which is highly likely. If i weren't a college student Id get my hands on a few.

The other side of it you have to see is that everyone that has extra cash is buying as many of these as they can, after these start popping up, the people owning an abundance of them will turn into price takers once someone sets a low ebay price on them.

Thats where i ordered my first through, Imagine I will end up with two of them. probably keep the 32.

Well I just bit and ordered three of them off of B&N.com. My total was $348 after shipping and taxes. I plan on keeping one, and giving away the other two as gifts.

Definitely looking forward to the Andriod root...

Sweet deal.

I ordered 1 from B&N last night and this morning I got an e-mail saying they canceled my order. I think an angry e-mail is headed their way since they still have the product for sale on their website.

I ordered 6 from B&N last night too. The only thing I've received is the confirmation email.

I just placed my order on B&N...going to wait till the 32 comes down and hopefully grab one of those as well. Thanks guys, hopefully someone keeps updating the thread with places to pick one up.

We ordered 2 32gb models from the Small Business area, I noticed that they have been updating the stock. Early this morning it said that both were available, then around 10 it said only 32gb's were available and now it says they're sold out. I'm thinking that the updates are correct. Looks like the credit card was already charged, so I hope we got lucky.

got a confirmation from HP this morning for both of the purchases.
