How to beat Baylor...

has anyone seen that video of the HS coach that never punts? There is some logic to what he's saying
 
We simply need a little of this on our team. From every player!!!!

Couldn't be further from the truth. Petty is one of the best in the country at going through his progressions. The key is, half the time he doesn't have to go through his progressions because his first read is open.

When Baylor is on offense cover the football with poo so nobody wants to catch / carry it. Brilliant! It's so crazy it has to work!
 
I think the best way to beat teams like Baylor is long, clock-killing drives when you are on offense. Unfortunately, we haven't shown much in terms of a power running game.
 
The Baylor offense is a rhythm offense. If we can stop the run the next step is to stop the 1st 2 passes in the QB's progression. Always make him go to at least 3. If we can accomplish that then we have a shot.

If we can score first, then stop the run & play relentless, physical football, we can win this game. Our offense will need to put up more points than it has, but I'm a Steelers fan and we just put up 37 points a game after going 8 or more quarters without a TD. Anything can happen, we just have to make it happen.
 
This formula could probably apply to a large percentage of games, but anyway:
1. Win turnover battle. Plus-2 at minimum; beyond that is gravy.
2. Close to 100 yards rushing, not including QB scramble totals.
3. Adequate performance by special teams, across-the-board.
4. Maximize touchdowns in red zone (one TD for each FG).
5. Force Baylor to settle for field goals as often as possible inside 30-yard line.

4 of those 5 — serious chance to win.
 
If we can figure out the magical beat-baylor formula for our team, I say we do it again every week...
 
Fairly simple, imo. Stop the run and sustain drives. Stopping the run will usually put them in 3rd and longer, taking away some of the quick hitting plays they run so well. Sustaining drives doesn't have to mean run the ball, just keep the chains moving.
 
I would be having scout team offense have about 13 guys on the field this week.

But keys to beating them:
1- Open field tackles. They get a ton of YAC, you have to tackle them in space.
2- Pass rush. Need to get a consistent rush with 3-4 guys, and those 3-4 guys have to be able to plug the running lanes.
3- Bend but don't break defense. I know everyone hates it. Baylor loves big plays. Give up chunks of yardage (they are going to get it anyways) and try to lock down in the red zone.
4- Win the turnover battle. Can't lose this, or we will for sure lose.

THIS.

Yall beat us in 2012 by basically dominating time of possession if I remember correct. Think something like a Collin Klein era KState team offense. Play keep away and it throws our whole rhythm off. Baylor is all about quick quick quick, and timing timing timing.
