How to beat Baylor...

I have two ideas that I haven't seen yet.

1. Onside kick every time we kickoff. Increases our chances of getting the ball, and chances are they're going to score just about every time they have the ball, no matter where they start. Even if they start at their own 1, they're going to be scoring.

2. Go for it on every 4th down. Same reason as above. Field position for Baylor means nothing.

I wouldn't ever implement this gameplan against any other team other than maybe Oregon.

What are your keys to beating Baylor?

Win the turnover battle by at least 10.
Don't kick field goals, just go for it when in range.
Dominate time of possession.
Do not let them score.

CPRs usual tactic is to try to control the clock, but our running game isn't consistent enough.

#1 is brilliant, shorter field means our d is on the field less and is fresher!

I agree... open up the passing game and substitute some short easier passes for the running game. It sure seems like running the football is just giving downs away for this offense.

Agreed on blitzing. We literally have to blitz non stop. They will burn us , but they probably will anyway. Might as well try to make him uncomfortable.

Just do that. Blitz 3/4 of the time, throw it 50 times a game, go for it every single 4th down, go for two every TD (maybe don't do this one...) and onside kick every time.

We might still lose by 30, but maybe instead of 50ish-20ish, it will be 90ish-60ish

Dime package corner blitz, rotating between man and zone every play. And whoever got to fourth down, loser.

As long as the rush is moderately successful - that is as it was against iowa - you have to at least run enough to keep them honest. In the 4th Q ISU was getting enough on 1st down runs by RB to keep on schedule. That is pretty important if you want to sustain drives and keep the ball away from the Baylor offense.

I remember going full 3-3-5 against Mizzou back in the day and that actually worked pretty well.

This tells you that Petty isn't reading the defense... he knows exactly where he is going with the football before the ball is even snapped. If the defense is shifting around and doesn't show how they are lining up prior to the snap it could help to slow Petty down a bit. He is obviously reading the defense pre-snap.
