I think Fred is doing a great job, and anyone that doesn't is a complete moron. GMac left him with a train wreck of a returning team. There is not a team in the country that had less coming back than ISU. He found Jake Anderson, made DG into someone teams have to at least pay attention to, kept together the recruiting class, and even though the 13 wins include beating some pretty crappy teams, it is still 13 wins. Lets not forget that some of those teams were not beaten, some were destroyed by 40 points.
No matter what, you have to have some expectation for your BB program, so I said 4-5 years like GMac. Both Fred and fans will be disapointed if the Clones are not at least a bubble team in a couple years.

I'm just kind of disappointed in myself for even believing that Fred could possibly do wrong. It was a lapse in judgment, and I apologize.
I think that no matter how Fred's coaching career turns out here at Iowa State he will always be loved by Cyclone fans.
But, I honestly can't see how he won't be successful in turning this program around with his basketball experience and knowledge, his recruiting abilities and his excellent coaching staff. And I mean look at his life. He has been successful at everything he has ever done.

Exactly. Can't compare as GMAC was an Iowan but was never a True Cyclone. Fred is Clone to the Bone.

Fred is doing very well. I would guess his approval rating is in the high 90 percent tile.
Next year will be key for Fred. The expectations are high and rightfully so. If for some reason we disappoint next year I think that will be difficult for him to overcome. This fan base is so desperate for a winner in MBB and if it doesn't happen next year like many think, there's going to be great disappointment. Year 3 has the chance to be very solid, too. But it's kind of like McDermott in year 4. There were plenty of expectations for that season and it failed miserably. Most people knew Greg could never recover from that.
That being said, Fred has this thing on the right track. No reason to doubt the man yet.

I voted for drowning kittens. Mostly because I don't like cats, but Fred could do anything short of putting us in the death penalty from the NCAA and I'd support him.
This is what I was thinking too, or maybe the question should be what 2-3 seasons or for that matter one season was/were not crappy under GMac?
I went with 5+ since I generally like cats. Now if it would've been Fred drowning babies, I would've went with that. Cats>Babies.
