How long will we keep Mitchell, Brock???

This year is showing that unless we have a once in a decade/multiple decade back like David was/is that we’re going to use and utilize different running backs. Brock and Hall will be a great 1-2 punch and they know that. If you look on their social media’s they’re always the first to comment on each other’s stuff and always are shouting each other out and things like that. As for Re-al I don’t really know, I would think by now we would at least have a package for him so I don’t really know if he’ll see the field much at QB while Brock is here.

Unless Bouman or Dekker beat out Mitchell for the #2 QB spot, i doubt he goes anywhere. I could also see a position switch as a real possibility. No reason for Brock to consider going anywhere. He'll redshirt this year, still be in line for 5-10 carries per game until Hall leaves, then be the guy for 1 or 2 years, depending on how long Hall stays. Unless the kid from Ohio comes in and beats him out for the #2 spot.

I think Re-al could start at QB for lots of schools. I'm hoping he sees the enormous opportunities in Ames and his ability to develop under this coaching staff.
Absolutely. And as the program keeps succeeding and we keep getting good recruits, you're going to see guys that are very good that are stuck at second-string spots. That's a very good thing to have and as you can see on the defensive side of the ball, it's highly important.

There is no doubt in my mind that CMC has spoken with Re-Al and discussed his future and his importance to the football program. I think the small packages we've shown this year with Re-Al are just the tip of the iceberg as far as what's in store for him in our offense. Next year when we have an even better quarterback room, CMC will be less hesitant to put Re-Al on the field.

How long do we think we can keep guys like Mitchell and Brock with the likes of Purdy and Hall ahead of them?
Thanks for your question Randy. It’s a good one.

Hopefully next year they've moved on from trying to force Croney, Lang, and Nwangu into larger roles than their talent calls for and roll with a two-headed Brock/Hall backfield.

Next year I see Brock and Hall splitting the snaps at RB. Mitchell? Who knows? He may stick around for QB if he thinks Purdy is gone after next year-or he could switch positions. Or he could leave.

It's extremely exciting to think that we will have every RB back next year besides Croney.

Sorry if already discussed, but is there any way next season that J.Brock and Hall would both be in on the same play or series, occasionally? I get they are the same position, but was just curious if it would be effective or instead a useless option.

I think Purdy is a guy where NFL scouts are going to want to see 4 years of film on him.. He doesn't have the NFL QB prototype body and realistically there are only 2 QB's in the NFL that Purdy remotely resembles (Drew Brees/Russel Wilson).

We need an option to block or downvote a thread. If a thread gets X number of downvotes, it gets automatically locked and the OP gets a 2 day ban.

There's just no point to these stupid threads. Talking about a RS Soph or true freshman potentially transferring is just so dumb, especially 6 games into the season.

Brock will still around. I think next year Brock and Hall will be the top two backs and will get most of the carries.

Real looks good, but I don’t think he’s so good that he’ll fall into a QB job in the P5 like some of these guys.
