How did you find out about CF?

Overheard a few couples talking about CF at London Underground in Ames
 
I lurked for a while and then signed up when my friend and I found tickets as part of a scavenger hunt around campus. I believe they were in the library somewhere.
 
I don't remember how I found this site. But I do remember lurking for a long time before finally signing up for an account. It was before the change in ownership. Very few places to get Cyclone information back then. Plus the off topic discussions were great.

CF is the only site I've ever received a temporary ban on.
 
I told this story before. I caught part of a "Marty and Miller" segment on KXNO when they went on and on about how "Hawkeye Nation" does it right and how the site was so much better and professional than CycloneFanatic so when I got home I had to check the two out.

I've been on the boards since back to the Ames Trib days. Just migrated through all the different boards over the decades and ended up here.
 
I was on the ESPN board. Then Ubben screwed it all up forcing a Facebook login/verification to participate. I needed a place to talk sports again. I miss getting the other fans perspectives though. CF can be pretty Homer-ish sometimes.

Joined in 2013. I think I found the site by hearing CW on KXNO as a guest, then following him on Twitter.

I was reading for the articles then succumbed to the guilty pleasures of the board!

It was nice to get other perspectives. I mean, some of the fans (ours included) could really jack up a game thread, but the posts the week before a game could be pretty informative.

When Chizik became head coach, I had recently started using Cyclone Report boards to follow recruiting. While sitting in a student lounge between classes, a fellow student recommended I use CF instead because it was a free board and the discussion was better.

Yup. This is when I found it. I was a junior at ISU at that time. My first memory of CF, and when I signed up, was in the aftermath of Morgan's firing and during the ensuing search that lead to McDermott.

Similar scenario here. IIRC, the rumor on this site (back then) was that we had found a coach/agreed to terms and it wasn't McD. For the life of me, I cannot remember the details or who that other coach was. Then McD was announced a week later.
 
I don't remember for sure, but based on my first post, I suspect that I Googled "Where can I buy parking passes for Iowa State football games?" and found CycloneFanatic.com.

And now look at the tailgating monster that I've become. CF stole my free time during the week, my weekends during home games, . . . and my innocence!
