NSCR: How awesome is Kurt Busch?

I've thought since day one that it was a big mistake for him to own his own team that early in his career. Just a lot of stuff to deal with on top of driving every week you know?

He has done well with being a driver owner, just having a bad year so far. (which I love to see)

As a Tony fan, I think he overextended himself with Danica Patrick and just wasn't ready for that extra work/burden. We've seen it over and over when teams expand their cars. RCR did it when they added Casey Mears a few years ago expanded from 3 to 4 cars. That went poorly.

It increased Smoke's workload, crew, sponsor requirements, etc by 50%. And I don't think he's caught up yet. Combine that with SHR's lack of success with the Gen6 car and I think that explains the organization's troubles this year.

As a side note: I think the racing with the Gen6 car has been outstanding (except for Daytona which is weird to say). I really, really, REALLY wish they would do away with more 1.5 mi ovals and add more short tracks and road courses.

I hope they stick with this new car. Like you said, the racing is great, they are going faster, and most importantly, they are extremely safe.

Smoke is taking some chances at different times and sometimes they will pay off and other times not. Banging with Busch will couple laps to go sent him from top 10 to 18th, I think.

He had other rubbin situations that cost him big time this year

This is often the case when women are involved...
