Rhoho is usually wrong so this makes me feel better.
Except there's a HUGE difference there. The MVC and other couple leagues that are using the platform are all producing the telecasts locally or even in house. (UNI sends its PSN games to ESPN+ for example).
With Big 12 Now, they are still ESPN productions. You won't notice a difference at all other than the buttons you click to get there. The SEC and ACC have games that are exclusive to their streaming services through the ESPN app as well.

For years on this very internets ISU fans said we'll be in great shape when eyeballs don't matter. ISU fans will step up and pay for streaming because we are so energized....

will iowa state benefit more on the new model or are we deluding ourselves? would be very interesting to see some actual numbers. is nielsen a dead company? samsung and the tv makers built a walled garden. can ads be inserted over the top of streaming?
Sorry, but I'm also in the camp of this is a step backwards. When this was billed as a replacement to CyTV for 3rd tier stuff that was a big improvement. But losing conference games to this platform is not great for visibility and exposure. Most people are still cable subs, so they are going to have to add a service to watch all the games.
And you can dismiss the good old days talking about what the TV deal looked like in the 80s, but it had been much better recently. I've been living out of state for 12 years and have been able to see all of our conference games via ESPN networks that entire time. That has been a great arrangement.
This is not going to be mainstream anytime soon either. You aren't going to be able to walk into any old bar and restaurant and see an ESPN+ game, that is exposure lost for the league. They will just roll with whatever is on ESPN with their cable package.

It’s part of the trend. ISU is an outlier in terms of season ticket sales and attendance. People don’t want to go to games and they don’t want to go to bars and watch games anymore. And that trend is just going to continue.
