It took Wal Mart weeks to find the evidence and submit it to the police. You think the Ames PD dropped everything and got right on the case for a $15 theft? It takes time to establish a case and file charges. Did you miss the part where charges were filed in May?

FWIW, here's a story. My partner at work had his truck broken into last year in broad daylight, stole his golf clubs, some cash, other stuff. Golf stuff alone worth over $2,000.
Had some security video. Cop said "yeah we know who that is, responsible for a bunch of thefts around the neighborhood. Can't prosecute though, county atty won't file charges unless we catch guy in act of theft, or in possession of stolen goods - not worth his time to mess with it". So nothing happened. Pretty sure they eventually scared him off. He is probably thieving somewhere else now.
You could see the cop was frustrated about it. My partner DID get his clubs back - they got fenced to used sporting goods place, and that guy turned them in.
So to hear someone got busted for $16... just reinforces my opinion there is no justice in the justice system. Not that THT should not have to pay a fine and the $16, he should. But what people DO get away with, when others get held to account over little stuff -- its totally insane.

Weren't the Prohm haters upset that he was too harsh on Cam? Now they want justice against THT? Their irrationality was kind of funny at first, now I'm just sad for them. But hey, if raging against Steve on here keeps them from kicking their dog at home, I guess the rest of us will just take one for the team.
