Hoops Books

I'll go old school

Heaven is a Playground by Rick Telander.

Describes NYC playground hoops in the early 70's

"They Call Me Coach" by John Wooden......one of the most down-to-earth, common sense books I have ever read on coaching.

"Loose Balls".....About all the shenanigans in the old ABA.

"My Life" by Magic Johnson.....I just always really liked him as a player and a person, so I read it.

Loose Balls is the best BB book I've read. Tall Tales is another good book by Terry Pluto (who wrote Loose Balls). Tall Tales is about the NBA from its beginning through the 1969 season, Bill Russell's last. I really need to read Simmons' NBA book.

I've never read Tall Tales.....if it is anything like Loose Balls.....I will have to check it out.
