Hometowns

wow - its like they drew the line specifically to exclude them (or rather include them in Central Central ... who would want that?) I assume the guy with the sharpie was wasted. The line follows 20 for the most part except the central part - whats upw with that?

and it does follow 80 too I think.

They just followed the County lines there Cochise. Not rocket science.

EDIT: Side note, I've gotten black out drunk in every region of the State (according to that map) except for South Central Iowa.

Ironically enough, I live closer to South Central Iowa than any other region outside of the one I live in.

Better drive down to Warren County and tie on a 12 pack.

My little town was know in the 80's and early 90's by other towns in the conference as "the town with the crazy lady". We had a woman that would sit in a chair on the outskirts of town and flip the bird to the opposing teams bus. If it was basketball game she would constantly harass the other team. It was pretty entertaining.

Map of the State broken into regions by Iowa State University Extension.

Those heathens in Ft Dodge are segregated from North Central Iowa. They are Central Central Iowa. According to our alma mater.

The regions are actually Crop Reporting Districts established by the USDA-NASS (National Agricultural Statistics Service). Makes it convenient for ISUE and others to use the same boundaries for other ag reporting, including as you said, land values and assorted survey info.

And yes, heathens in Ft. Dodge is an appropriate statement! No self respecting northern Iowa native would claim Ft. Dodge as northern Iowa.

Born in Ames, and spent the first 4 months of my life living in Pammel Freakin' Court! One of my first hazy memories was Dad graduating from ISU at Clyde Williams Field in '68.

After short stints in Manchester & West Union, we moved to Winterset, where I started school. I moved back a few years after graduation from ISU, and I've been here ever since.

When I was a freshman at ISU, I went to Mary Greeley with a case of strep throat. When the doctor asked if I had any of my medical history with me, I told him "Well, I WAS born next door at the McFarland Clinic". He gave me a blank look and said "I don't think those records will help us very much today."

Let me guess: The summer after you graduated from high school, did your parents loan you money to take a 5-day vacation in Bum****, Egypt?
