Hometowns

Grew up in the very small town of Silver City, Iowa. We moved to Glenwood, Iowa when I was in 8th grade. Can't say I'm sad to be away from SW Iowa...

Map of the State broken into regions by Iowa State University Extension.

Ok I'm kind of curious now, which region has the least population and which region has the most population?

Most - If I were to guess I'd say East Central because of Davenport, CR, Clinton and IC... if not, I'd say Center Iowa because of Des Moines and Ames

Least - I'd say either Southwest or South Central

Central probably has the most population with Des Moines, W Des Moines, Ames Ankney, etc.

Not sure about least.

Good Ol Emmetsburg!! Home of the E-Hawks and a good kind of Black and Gold...not that kind from the other side of the state!

I'd say its south central, only because SW Iowa has Council Bluffs. I think if you take CB out it would be pretty even.

says the guy from North West (but not the Okaboji part) Iowa ... I can only assume it was where you settled after your stint in juvee at Cherokee?

Its Okoboji numbnuts. And no I spent 11 years of my life in your stomping grounds Algona. So that makes us brothers.

Cherokee is a scary dirty place.

This is where it gets tricky because Des Moines has a metro population of around 550,000 and the CR-IC corridor has around 350,000-400,000. But Eastern Central also has Clinton and Davenport on top of that. I'm sure it's really close!

wow - its like they drew the line specifically to exclude them (or rather include them in Central Central ... who would want that?) I assume the guy with the sharpie was wasted. The line follows 20 for the most part except the central part - whats upw with that?

and it does follow 80 too I think.

It's divided right on county lines, isn't it?

Northeast Iowa's Best Kept Secret.
And it really is, because I don't know that anyone has ever heard our town's motto before.

The 2000 census says central has 722,852 and east central has 652,979.
