Hoiberg to Huskers

The idea of a bunch of central Iowa media members driving 400 miles round trip to cover a Nebraska basketball press conference and ask questions about Iowa State ("What do you think of Matt Campbell?" "How are Iowa State fans supposed to feel?", etc.) is beyond embarrassing.

Agree completely! Totally small-minded, insular and insecure to show up at a Nebraska press conference and ask questions about Iowa State. I was really embarrassed for Randy Peterson who sounded like a narrow-minded reporter who was there to cry for Iowa State fans. Reminded me of the time an Iowa reporter asked Barry Alvarez a similar question at a Madison Wisconsin news conference after Alvarez had been at Wisconsin a few years. Alvarez reminded and shamed the reporter that there are other colleges in the world other than the one in Iowa City.

Cyclone fans better brace themselves for the renaissance in Lincoln.

I’m trying to. So what if NU becomes ‘good’ in basketball? It’s not like it will be the only school we’ll compete with recruits for. We just can’t be obsessed about it. Definitely not let it affect our support of our own coach! We know Fred will be successful. Heck, just think with 5 yrs at ISU & 3 with Bulls how much better/experienced coach he is now than when he came to Ames. How long it takes, who knows? No reason we can’t BOTH do good things and respect when respect is due!

We’ll see. He was very bad in Chicago. His coaching was bad. The landscape has changed. I’m not sure he’ll be a long term sucess in Lincoln.

I don’t think even you really believes he was ‘bad’. It was the Bulls roster/dealing w/NBA egos/injuries/etc. I just think he is better suited to coach college & Nebr got VERY lucky w/the timing of all this. His reputation at ISU & Matt will get him players. So too will coach Prohm! Like I said, no reason we can’t both be good!

Actually I do think he was a bad coach in Chicago. A good coach could have made something out of the bad roster. He did not.

He will also have to become way more interested in recruiting. When he cared about it he was good. When he lost interest he was bad and not even Matt could save him. I don’t have confidence that long term he’ll care enough.

Maybe he’ll be the next coach k. I doubt it and I hope not.

Or, you know having your franchise player say you’re bad. Or the nba executives commenting on how his team didn’t even look coached.

Did someone really ask what he thinks of Matt Campbell?
