Hoiberg on ESPNU College Basketball Podcast

Love the exhibition games idea. It really makes no sense and does no one any good to be playing these division 2 schools.

Talked about having exhibition games instead of secret scrimmages or crappy non-con matchups - Fred is in favor (I think it's cool too).

Talked about Niang, Ejim, Kane, Morris...how Fred uses his players to THEIR skills and not forcing them into HIS sets.

Talked about the new 'hand checking' rule this year and how it may force some teams to play more zone defense as you can't really slow down a guy on the perimeter like you used to. Fred said that may increase scores some but may also slow the game down (officiating, etc). Said the next step would be to go to shorter shot clock. Also said officiating would be held accountable to enforce the new rule, and not just ignore it since it is now a rule.

Finished up talking about how Katz has never been to Hilton - Fred said if we can handle Vitale then Katz needs to get here too.

Good interview, as always.

there really isn't any single person on ESPN that some cyclone fan doesn't hate. seth greenberg bothers you?!?!

He just has one of those annoying voices and always tries to act like he's too cool for school. I listen to a lot of Espn radio and just could never make it through a full segment with him. Pairing him up with Coachman makes it even worse. Nothing against his opinions or anything, I just think he's really annoying.
