Anyone else taking their son to basketball camp today.

Taking our son for his second straight year. He was up at 5 wanting to get ready to go this morning he was so excited. Last year was an awesome experience and expect it to be another good one this year. He had Austin McBeth as his coach last year and he was bummed to hear that Austin graduated but I told him there is a chance he could still be there this year. I can't say enough good things about how Austin was with the kids last summer. All the players were great with the kids as well as the coaches.

Here's to another great year of camp.

Can't wait for my kid to be old enough to go. And not just the one for the kids, but the father/son one as well.
 
I wish Hoiberg would have been around when I was that age. I went to the Eustachy camps and while I enjoyed each year, Larry wasn't around much. He did have one memorable moment when he sent a kid with KU shorts on back to the dorms to change. Those camps are expensive but worth the money if you can afford it. I imagine Hoiberg puts on a great camp.
 
I was a wrestler but still have great memories of going to John Smith and Dan Gable camps. Really the most awesome thing a kid who's into sports can do. I think it really motivated me to keep working at the sport year round without thinking of any time as an off season.

Agree with you. Watched Austin with my nephew. He's really good with those kids..gonna make a nice little coach himself.
 
Two quick observations from yesterday.

Niang and Percy looked to be in amazing shape. Fred commented about how much weight both of them have lost during camp introductions.

Our son's coaches are Austin McBeth and Cam Fowler so he was excited. I asked him what his favorite part of the day was and he said when he blocked a shot and his coaches cheered for him and when "Big Percy" (his favorite player) said what's up to him and gave him a fist bump. Such a cool experience for a 7 year old.
 
My coach was terry woods still remember playing 2 on 2 with hornacek and woods and some other kid. They would shoot long or throw in to us. They stayed outside the 3 line. In hindsight I realize that they probably picked us because we were 2 of the worst basketball players...well I guess even stinking has its perks ;)
 
I remember going when I was 10. I didn't improve my basketball skills much, but I did get to meet Reggie Miller and got to see him and Fred have a 3 point contest.
 
Should be a great experience. When I was a kid I went to Johnny Orr's camp. It was awesome. He had Hornacek come in for a special visit. Hornacek was draining half court shots one after another in front of the entire camp. He went something like 14-15 from half court. Insane.

My son said McBeth is there, of course he may be wrong, but that is what he told me last night.

Got any update from today? I'm curious to see what players are helping out with the camps this week in addition to the ones you mentioned yesterday.
