Hilton Madness 2017

Lard is going to play a lot. Much more athletic than I previously thought. Trying to think of a more athletic bit in the conference, drawing a blank.

The lanky dude from Tech is a freakish athlete. Zach Smith, I think. And Konate from WVU is a freak too, although Deonte dunked on his face in the B12 tourney. And I’m sure Baylor and KU have some dudes.

Lard is a really fluid athlete. Not like brute force athletic, but smooth athletic.

Does Zoran Talley have to sit this year? He looked pretty good.

He’s playing this year. The knock on him was his jumper but it doesn’t look bad by any means. He’s 6’7 with good handle and ability to get to the basket. Long wingspan and can guard most everybody. Comes from really well-coached program. We got a steal.

Jakolby’s jumper still looks like a work in progress. It’s like he waits till he’s coming down to release it and then uses his upper body really quickly to get it off.

Don’t you worry. There will probably be a meltdown thread about our jump shooting by the time everybody gets home and online.
I noticed there weren't more than 2 or 3 made threes on the highlight tape and one was banked in. Plenty of nice dunks though!

The format was the best they've had. The 3 point contest was interesting and quick. The scrimmage was 5 minutes women, 5 minutes men and then repeated. John Walters was a gem of an MC and got everyone's name right! Lindell looked like he was having a good time.

But the real highlight was Cass Prohm and especially Will Fennelly dancing before it started. Will has some moves :)

That's unfortunate about Long. It seems to me that his path to playing time is with "D and 3". This year's team needs some knock-down shooters. If he doesn't get meaningful PT this year, it's hard to see him getting into the rotation with the influx of talent next year

Talley, Lard, Lewis, & Shayok all look ready to contribute in the Big 12. (Shayok next year obviously) That was my biggest take away.
Nice to hear about Lewis and Lard. If Lewis is ready to play D at this level, we know he's got the offensive skills.

I'm interested to see if Lard and Young get much PT together. It seems like Lard is more athletic (based on a limited data set anyway).

I'm not sure how good we'll be on offense, but we could be a very good defensive and rebounding team. Wigginton, Jackson, NWB, Talley, Young, and Lard are an athletic group. I look forward to seeing these guys grow under Prohm.
