I gotta give a shout out to Kue'd Smokehouse in Waukee. I've had a lot bbq in my life and that place is way up on my list. I miss Smokey D's as well. Their burnt ends cannot be matched. I've looked up the whole southern bbq belt and it's pathetic competition.

Agree on Kue'd, I'm in Ankeny so it's a haul, but their meats are really really good. Wasn't a fan of the sauces, but they did meat well.

Their rub is the bee's knees. They put it in their butter and it was love at first bite.

It sold for 11 million.Not sure if that includes hickory hall or if that is just restaurant.

The Hickory Hall building/parcel was sold two years ago to an LLC with a Story City address (not that means a whole lot). The LLC at that address also owns 119 Main downtown.

I need to try Big Al's BBQ sometime. One of my coworkers is originally from KC and claims that place is the closest thing in town to the quality of BBQ in KC. Kued and Smokey Ds are my favorites sonic like to see how that place compares.
