First off, if you've seen my thoughts on the Iowa game, I absolutely hate it and want out of it. The tenor of the podcast and a lot of fans I've spoken to after is exactly why. There is a hangover from this game good or bad, and right now people are talking about how hard it will be to shake this game off. It was a terrible game, we got our asses kicked in a game where we gave up 4 turnovers and that's the game. I wasn't honestly mad after, you turn the ball over 4 times you gonna lose. Period. I did a search in Sports Reference - For games including Big 12 conference teams going back to the start of their database (which I think is 2000), there have been two wins where a team has had 4 or more turnovers versus a team with 0 turnovers. It's happened twice in literally decades. It's happened 6 times in the Big 10. It's happened 1 time in the Pac 12. It's happened 12 times in the SEC (mostly against small schools) and it's happened 11 times in the ACC (against a lot of small schools again).
You do it versus a team with a pulse and you have like a 1% chance of winning.

All that said, the Big 12 is soooooooffffttt right now. Texas got rolled by Arkansas. KSU is going to be without Thompson sadly for a period due to injury. OSU's offense makes ours look like USC with Leinart and Bush. TCU looks fine. OU has looked fine.
Assuming these guys can get their heads back on straight on offense, this is a team we should expect to see in the Big 12 championship game again with a real shot to win it and be in the freaking Sugar bowl. Since that pairing has been announced I've had vision of Sugar Bowl's dancing in my head.
On a personal note, I was all set to go to Dallas last year for the Big 12 championship game, which has always been a dream of mine and the person who was set to watch my kids got COVID. Bummed me out to no end. This team can still do great things, historic things for this program and one crap game should not overshadow it at all. Disappointment is fine. But the players and the staff deserve our support and belief not just for what we think they can do this year, but for what they've already delivered in years past.
