I thought it was interesting that Babb was switched to Heslip. Seems like Jackson was going to get his, and is a tough match for anyone, but unusually hard for Chris due to his ball handling and quickness, so switching Babb to Heslip was the next best option. And Heslip disappeared. Seemed like he even had trouble touching the ball, let alone scoring it.

I'm also amazed about how Freddie can game plan an opponents bigs. Seems like we would be eaten up inside with the length of some of the teams we face, but for the most part, we've held them in check.

I don't remember ever seeing anyone close out on a perimeter shooter as well as Babb. His guy will get the ball and look open for a split second, but Babb gets on him so quickly and with such control that the shooter can't drive past him either. It's really impressive to watch.

What I like about Babb is that he accepts the defensive role when it obviously hurts his offensive game to have to run around and chase shooters all game. I like his ability to shoot, drive and create, but he doesn't due to saving his energy. Great team player and really glad we had him these two years.

When Heslip was bombing those threes early I was thinking surely we aren't going to let this guy beat us again. Babb gave him baseline once in second half but that was about it. Good move.

Babb had the single best offensive play I saw in 3 nights of watching Cap City games this summer. He came in from the left and just went up and over everyone to make an awesome windmill dunk with his left hand. It just came out of nowhere and was incredible. I would love to see him explode with one of these in an ISU game.

CFH's defensive gameplans against talented bigs have been awesome this season. Without checking stats I'd bet ISU has held the best bigs (Withey, Osby, M'Baye, Austin) to some of their worst games of the season. And OSU was so scared about match ups that they didn't even let their center see the floor against us.

its the old NBA mentality (mostly against Jordan) where you let that one guy get his, but shut everyone else down.

Babb is a great defender, but I think he is clearly better against shooters than quick, dribble-drive guys. There's been times I think CFH has overthought things a little and tried to put Babb on the other team's best guard even if it's the point guard. I think it's better when Babb guards a shooting guard/SF no matter what. Especially since this means Lucious guards the opposing PG and not a bigger shooter.

I think without Bubu he almost had to put Babb on the guards but now that he is back playing Babb can guard those shooters and completely shut them down. Bubu being back helps defensively big time.

He's definitely better on 2s and 3s where his strength is an advantage rather than going against 1s who are faster than him.

Heslip was Babbtized.

But yes, let Pierre get his, shut down everyone else. He's scored over 30 on us twice in the last two years, both times we got the W.

Bubu is in for a a third to a fourth the time Babbb is. What happens the rest of the time?

I couldn't believe Babb is 230 LBS when I heard someone talking about it on the radio. That dude is jacked. Going to miss Babb big time next year on defense. Hope someone can fill his defensive roll.
