Hemp and Hemp Extracts containing CBD about to be formally legalized in Iowa

I've suffered from anxiety for years. I'm on paxil and have tried more natural products like magnesium, vitamin D, and CBD to help. Earlier this week I started taking a probiotic as I've read it could help with anxiety (some claim anxiety starts in the gut and there are seratonin receptors in the gut, science ect blah blah blah). Now it could be a placebo effect (but I never got that with the magnesium, vitamin D, or CBD), but I really think taking this probiotic is helping me out with my anxiety. Might be worth looking into if you suffer from this ***** of a mental condition known as anxiety.

@FriendlySpartan You're a doctor, right? Am I crazy thinking taking a mood enhancing probiotic is helping my anxiety?

There are probiotics for calming dogs. Seems to help.

My wife has been on the medical marijuana program here in Iowa for three years. I had a class on it and said she needed to try it as I didn't think she would be walking within a year the way her Parkinson's was progressing, It took a bit to convince her and I was skeptical anyway. She would finally take the full dose after a week. It was amazing. It helped with her fatigue, her dystonia (continuous cramping), her speech, her balance, her freezing when she tried to talk, etc.. The neurologist was amazed. I pointed out that her leg was not bent anymore from her dystonia and the neurologist pointed out the wear spot on the knee of her pants had moved about three inches.

We have had to increase the dose as the disease has progressed. She was suffering from severe anxiety and CyIsMyDog said THC made his friends anxious. We cut down the THC and that really helped the anxiety. That is our experience anyway.

Lots of research is being done on the gut mind connection. What probiotic did you start?

Lifted naturals mood boosting probiotic. It was one mentioned in a Healthline article so I thought I'd give it a shot. It hasn't been a week but I can already tell its having a positive effect.

Your anxiety is it more physical then mental? Curious if you have issues with digestive things when it comes to it.

I think its definitely more mental but I do have some digestive issues (nothing major). While research is ongoing, there does seem to be a link between your GI system and central nervous system.

Like I said, it could just be a placebo effect that is happening, but I haven't had that when I've tried other supplements so I'm hopeful it is helping.

I don't think it is a placebo. Have known a few people who get their gut health in check and their reduction of having multiple panic attacks daily to having only a few a year (which from what they say are now more annoyance then fear and are easily overcome with grounding techniques) is nothing to take lightly.

They had tried Mag Glyc which actually for one spiked their cortisol something crazy, along with a few other natural things with zero relief.

I'm one that doesn't find CBD to have any noticeable impact. I've never had any with THC above 0.1% or straight Marijuana though, which gives the entourage effect. On the flip side, CBG and CBN are both good to help me sleep.

Ketamine is the same - barely any trip, and only once every 10 times or so despite twice a week for the past 5 months.

I think my issue is the mental issues they're both supposed to help with are treatment resistant to just about every drug imaginable, unfortunately.

Interesting that CBG makes you fall asleep. CBN I understand but from what I'd say the majority of people report they like CBG during the daytime because it provides an uplifting mood so I assume that meant more of a stimulating effect

God. The thought of daily panic attacks is unreal. Due to medication and I believe a better diet (still not great, by any means, but better), I haven’t experienced a full blown panic attack in years. I have felt panic attacks start to flare up, infrequently these days, but I’ve somehow been able to keep them down. I still remember the last full blown episode I had though, and I wanted to die. This is not hyperbole. I felt as though there was only one way to stop it. I cannot fathom dealing with that multiple times a day.

From my personal experience, I’m not sure I think THC is the best thing for people with anxiety. Then again…I do not believe anyone, including the medical community, knows a whole hell of a lot about the complexities and individuality of anxiety to begin with.

For the record, while I do credit the medication I am on for keeping me somewhat in balance, I absolutely hate that I have to take it to “feel right”, and unfortunately, I’ve been on it so long, I’m so dependent on it now, that I’ll never be able to come off of it. I am a firm believer that there are no addictive qualities to THC, so if it can be used to help, it should be one of the first thing “we” try.
