Help: Des Moines Area Apartments

Trying to get some input about apartments to rent in the Des Moines area. I'm really looking for a 1 bedroom/1 bath apartment that is fairly affordable and away from the universities. All input would be greatly appreciated! Thanks in advance!

Stay clear of Sun Prairie.

Now sure what affordable entails but Grimes has some nice, new ones. Meadowlark/Meadowridge or something like that,
I'd look at if the wife kicked me out.

I lived in Hampton House apartments on 42nd and Grand after I was done at Iowa State. Exactly what you are looking for (1 bedroom, 1 bath, and very affordable when I was there). It's not far from Des Moines University, but I don't think that counts.

We live at Weston Park off of Park Ave. They aren't the nicest apartments ever, but very affordable and great location near Water Works Park.
