"Finally played against a good team."

So are we just ignoring #13 Northwestern?

Yep, because Northwestern is more overrated than Iowa.

Yes, they pulled a fluke upset in week one. Those things happen. Georgia Tech beat FSU, Texas beats OU, Ole Miss beats Bama, etc etc. The fact that Iowa is riding that win as much as they are is funny. Hey, Iowa can add two bowl teams on their schedule since Nebraska and Minnesota are probably going to bowls with 5-7 records. Whatever works.

Stanford would beat Northwestern today as bad as Michigan and Iowa did.

I think Iowa is a very solid team. The play disciplined defense and are physical on offense. Tough to deal with much of their fanbase who look down at ISU and the closest they might have gotten to campus is the Airliner!

That said I think the national media and Big 10 supporters give way too much credit to the level of defense played in the Big10. Defenses can look great if offenses don't stretch the field. I think Iowa might have thrown the ball 20+ yards down field twice yesterday and MSU maybe once.

So how do you cherry pick a GOOD team?

Well first you watch them play and wonder how they've ever won a game against a good team until you realize they haven't since the 1st game of the season and were actually slaughtered when they had to play the two remaining good teams on their schedule. Then you keep watching and notice the similarities between their offense and your son's JV team. Then you dig further and see how when biases are taken away, sagarin has them ranked 32 and Kirk Haalands computer has them 57th.

I'm actually happy the Hawks are in the Rose Bowl. They're deserving of it.

I'm just curious...what was the score of the Northwestern vs Ohio State game? What about the Northwestern vs Michigan State?
This is what drives me crazy about all this stuff. Of the top three teams in each division, only Northwestern and Michigan played a cross division game against one another. It's no wonder the teams had the records they did.

Fans are just as bad today as they were yesterday, running to CF cause they are in the Rose Bowl, dissing Iowa State on social media:rolleyes:. When I think Hawk players, I just think Bielema. Then I wish CF had a vomit button.

Then there is all the respect they show opposing teams with their childish pink locker room.

I know a bunch of Iowa fans, and I never experience any of this. It sounds like a you problem.

They had a great year. It shouldn't be that hard for ISU fans to acknowledge it and move on without the whining.

Ames is a real hotbed for Hawk fans.

Iowa has a good shot at beating Stanford since Stanford plays much the same type of game just like MSU. I would rather see these terms play schools with contrasting styles as it would be more interesting and entertaining.

That drives me crazy too. That's an additional 8 losses that someone would have had to take. Imagine if the Big XII had it that easy (or if the people in charge were smart enough to realize this). Where would West Virginia be? Where would Texas Tech be? Hell, where would K State be?

I acknowledge Iowa had a great year this year, and truly had a chance to win that game and make the final 4. But the rival side of me enjoys the poetic justice of their fanbase feeling the pain of losing in the way they did simply to feel what it is like to heart pulled out like every close Cyclone game in the last 3 years....
