Hawks in Lubbock

Just as I said.

Not a great idea to butt in on a rival when not involved.

No big deal with you are a neutral party.

See my examples for the former -- Iowa/Iowa State games when one is not playing the other, Michigan stuff when going to an Ohio State game, things like that.

See my examples for the former -- wearing ISU gear when watching Notre Dame and Virginia play or any other ACC match-up when ISU does not have a dog in the fight.

It's not that hard to figure out.

Unless you want to cherrypick and ignore context.

Your first post said it wasn't a big deal. I just want clarification because it seems you're hedging.

Quoting myself...

I know we hate the Hawks,

And yes, we all do.

but sometimes people like going to games as a "third-party"

A "third-party" does not have a dog in the fight. Intruding on a rival's game means you are no longer a third-party, unlike me going to ACC games on the East Coast occasionally.

and want to represent their team, even if they are not playing in that stadium.

A Hawk going to Lubbock to watch ISU play TTU is not a "third-party."

I do not know what you are trying to parse out here.

That's not how your original post read. I'm moving on.

Last year in Austin, was it her?View attachment 67785

I grew up in a small central-Iowa town located 35 miles NE of Des Moines; one of my graduating class headed straight for Dallas following HS and now owns a successful contracting business - though he never attended EIU, my former classmate is a huge hawk fan - I believe this photo to be of his younger sister; @cyfreddy - do you concur?

If there's any ISU fans out there in Chicagoland considering going to the Iowa @ Northwestern game decked out in ISU gear...please don't.

As people in the Cave on here will tell you, nobody likes somebody who does not have a side (even if the side is not playing in the stadium that afternoon).

This is a really odd take. I'm in the Detroit metro for work part of this week. Let's say I stay the weekend to catch the Michigan - Notre Dame game. You're saying if I just walk in there wearing jeans and a grey shirt with no team logo I'm going to get yelled at and abused, but if I were to wear ISU gear people will just leave me alone? That makes no sense - I would never wear ISU gear to a game that ISU is not playing in.

To the bold part...

To the rest...

I have worn ISU stuff to plenty of neutral games. Nobody seems to notice/care much. The most that has happened to me is a few brief and polite conversations about some cliché Iowa State stuff, like Georges being great or Hoiberg going to the NBA on us.

I saw a guy at the Alamo Bowl decked out in Hawk gear. Later they showed the same f*ck celebrating on the jumbotron with a bunch of Coug fans. I'm still pissed about that. That was a sh!t move by the Alamo bowl.
I still get pissed just thinking of that douche. If he had been sitting in our section, he'd just now be coming out of his coma. Went to the KU game last year. Sure enough, there was a baby brother in his hawk shirt and Depends, cheering on Kansas.

I wouldn't have a problem wearing just a Cyclone hat* to a truly neutral game (not a rival). I wouldn't be decked out entirely in Cyclone gear though. I wouldn't wear a Cyclone hat to an Iowa game where ISU wasn't playing.

*To clarify "just a Cyclone hat" means the hat is the only Cyclone gear, not that the hat is all I am wearing. ;)

I wore an ISU hoodie to the Outback bowl one year. I lived in Orlando, my aunt & uncle wanted me to go with them to the game, & I really didn't have any non ISU hoodies.

I only wore it for tailgating & maybe the 1st half before it was too hot to wear it. I did have some Hawks giving me crap, but I was unbothered by it.

I would never skip an ISU game (on tv or in person) to attend an Iowa game in ISU gear though. That's insane.

found one.

There are unfortunately others that have admitted to wearing Iowa State apparel in Carver during Big 10 games.
I know. There are stupid people in every fanbase. You should see the moron I’m talking to on twitter right now. He stopped responding but oh boy, he is stoooopid.
