hawk fb program headed to the bottom

Then you miss the gigantic fact that iowa played those teams!

Terrible, terrible teams. And you want me to value those wins?

Are you serious? The mac was better than the bottom half of the big ten.

So was toledo better than iowa? They went to a bowl.

I love your passion towards this argument about ISU being better than Iowa. I'm done arguing which turd smelled less bad.

Hard to justify the creation of this thread, given the state of ISU football over the last 3 seasons or so. Maybe you should wait for us to have a decent season before saying these things.

This fanbase never ceases to amaze me. Usually trash talk is justified by wins, conference titles, etc.

There is nothing foolish about it. Actually the definition of foolish is placing more emphasis on wins over other teams than the actual game that was played that isu clearly won.

Or the head to head vs big twelve teams.

Facts. The big ten didn't win those battles.

B1G was the better football conference than the Big 12 last year. It's pretty clear.

You're stretching, but like I said, ISU football was dog **** last year so I'm more worried about ISU football reaching a bowl game (which Iowa reached) than which league was tougher. Regardless of the side you take, neither league was light years ahead, and its just a lame excuse to explain lackluster seasons for both programs.

Iowa football was dog **** as well. And the B1G definitely wasn't light years ahead, it was just better when all was said and done. Last year was absolutely the exception when you look at the past decade or so, but it is what it is. I'm just calling out the idiots who huff about how bad the B1G was last year because ISU beat Iowa or because the Big 12 co-champion beat up on the B1G's #5 team. Clueless.

This coming season could be a big win-win for me. If Iowa does well, great. If Iowa tanks, great, maybe it'll be the nail in KF's coaching coffin. Worst possible scenario is 6-6, they'll continue to limp along and not make changes at the top, so that's what I'm predicting will happen. I'd much rather go 1-11 this season than 6-6.

One great team does not make a conference. The big 14 had one great team. After that....crap. Using bowl games as an indicator of conference strength is just silly and that is the only way one could come up with any type of argument for the big14. For example...Is the big 14 better than the SEC because Wisconsin(big14 #2 team) beat Auburn (SEC#6 team) by 3? Is the big 14 better strictly because MSU beat Baylor even though they had to score 21 points in the fourth to do it?

I guess the only thing that counts is MSU beating Baylor with a 21 point come from behind win. I guess a match up between the Big 12 #6 and Big 10#6 or West Virginia beating Maryland doesn't matter. iSU beating iowa, TCU beating Minnesota, etc. the only thing that matters is bowl games which do NOT pair teams of equal conference standings vs one another. Bowl games where MSU coming back down 21 proves they weren't dominated for three quarters and they were hands down the better team. I guess Rutgers beating UNC and Penn state beating Boston College by 1 proves how good the Big 14 was last year. Because bowl results and nothing else prove how good a conference really is. Screw the rest of the season.

I guess unranked Big 12 #4 OU getting beat by #17 ranked ACC#2 Clemson proves the Big 12 was bad. Or maybe it was the three one possession bowl games that the big 12 lost.

I am not saying the Big 12 wasn't overrated, they were but the only argument for the big 14 being better is bowl game results. it is a silly argument using one criteria and refusing all the others. Bowl game results were wrong to use to rank conferences in the past and it is no different now. Bowl results were wrong to rank the big 14 low for the last five years just like they are wrong to elevate the conference now. Bowl games are chamber of commerce events meant to fill hotels and bring people to town. They are not set up based on pairing equal opponents. They are set up to bring the most people to town. It is why better raveling teams are constantly picked over higher quality teams. Look at bowl tie ins and you never see......
Conference A #4 vs Conference B #4

instead you see
Conference A #3 vs conference B#5

And then people use conference A# 3 winning as proof that Conference A is better. Well duh.

i didn't read any of this, but talking about another teams program being terrible when ours can't beat Kansas or anybody else is a little insane.

This thread is bad and you should feel bad. Even if in your mind you have a dozen justifications why ISU is better than Iowa when you have a 2-10 record lined up against a 7-6 record, both in Power 5 conferences, you just end up looking like a fool.

It is embarrasing to see this thread still on the front page.

Things that make me chuckle... kicking someone's rear and then watching the losers talk trash after. No problem. We will just beat them again next year. ISU has owned iowa in the ferentz era. How many years has it been now? Lol

I am stilling waiting for you to tell me why the local junior high team isn't better than iowa right now.

The jh team was undefeated. Iowa had many losses. Lol

Yes, head to head matchups are silly to use when comparing two teams.

I mean if only there was a way to determine who was the better team. Hmmmm...maybe have them play the exact same teams and then compare results. Maybe don't have any them play at all and just use athletic budget. Or maybe the teams could play one another.

Both teams were bad last year but even iowa fans saw who the better team was last year.

It is like idiots claiming iowa was better because they won a tourney game in basketball.

That might hold water if they were within a couple of wins of each other. UAB beat ISU last year head to head. Clearly the better team and the rest of their seasons don't matter a bit, right?

Still a dumb thread. Continue to embarrass yourselves.

I never said bowl games were the only criteria. Look at the final Sagarin rankings, which seem to be pretty popular among ISU fans. It lays it out pretty clearly that both at the top of the conference, and top to bottom, the B1G was better. The Big 12's #3, #4, and #5 teams were ranked slightly higher than the B1G's #3, #4, and #5 teams. Other than that, every B1G team was ranked higher than its Big 12 counterpart, in some cases by 50+ spots. As bad as the bottom of the B1G was, look at the bottom 1/3 of the Big 12, it was atrocious.

In previous years when the B1G has tanked in bowl games the claim is that it's a clear indication of how sh*tty the conference is. But when the Big 12 goes 2-5 and four of its top five teams lose, all of a sudden it's a silly way to look at conference strength. I actually agree with you, because B1G teams routinely play against higher ranked teams in bowl games, but try telling that to your fellow ISU fans.

I know that the Big 12 has hands down been the better football conference for most if not all of the past decade. It just wasn't last year.

Actually, I have to say, seeing the number of Fans who think this entire thread is stupid as **** gives me hope for humanity. There are only a few 'Die Hards' still defending that ISU was quote "Better" than Iowa, while the rest of us are self-aware enough to know that ISU was terrible so who the **** cares!!

Seriously, 2-10, 5 wins over the last 2 years. Losses in back-to-back years to 1AA teams. 3 home victories in 2 seasons. WE...HAVE...NOTHING....OVER....IOWA....IN...THE...LAST....2....YEARS...EXCEPT....1 WIN ON A LAST SECOND FG. Do you not remember Iowa throttling us at home 2 years ago? Seriously mods. Please close this thread, I hate how 2 or 3 posters are making our entire fanbase look like idiots.

Not sure if you are serious, but ISU's continued growth in FB has been on a downward trajectory since Rhoads' first season.

This was meant fir the other poster.

Let me finish your who beat whom comments.

and isu beat iowa at iowa.

And I actually watched all the teams you mentioned play last year and it was some of the worst football I have ever seen in a conference by a group of teams. I would have take Kansas straight up over those teams any day.

ISU had two better wins than any of those teams. Indiana had missouri.

get real. When isu beats Iowa again and I am very confident about that happening... will you be back to eat your words like the hawk trolls here?

Go home, you're drunk.

but we beat #2 Okie St 4 years ago....

It's amazing how poorly things have gone since that game. We all thought that would be a launching point but instead it was more of a cliff we fell off.
