Hason Ward

Ward walked into the locker room real slow after the TCU game. He must be dealing with an injury or illness.

That’s the answer I was looking for when I mentioned it, but trying to ask a seasoned team of experienced internet warriors a simple question proved to be difficult

FIFY. We’re not dumb. If you want coffee talk go to the Casey’s early in the morning.

The jump to P6 basketball has not been kind to our non p6 transfers this season. Holmes and Osun are adequate enough, but they leave you wanting. King shows flashes but can't stay on the court. Ward looks like a G5 guy. Regression to the mean just really kicking our ass right now

I have to know how bad Ward must look in practice to be giving Rob 17 minutes per game. Does he dribble with his face? Punt the ball across the court to pass?
TJ loves the energy Rob brings to the floor whenever he comes in and he’s convinced himself that gives our team a spark when I think in reality he’s a liability when he’s out there.

Unfortunately for Ward, he got to ISU late. I’m not sure he was here in time for the soccer field workouts so that put him behind everyone else, at the very minimum condition-wise, then he dealt with an injury earlier in the year. I think Ward’s biggest thing is that he’s limited on offense and doesn’t have the motor Rob has. But for as much of a black hole Rob is down low, his lack of self awareness, and just his general lack of talent that doesn’t make him a P6 player, I unfortunately don’t think Ward’s offensive game is any better than Robs. And Ward fouls a ton whenever he is in

You would think his ability to foul would get him more minutes -- similar to Caleb (hack), Jaz (hack and grab), and Jaren (kick with the thighs). Maybe he doesn't have his hands in the air enough to prove he isn't fouling.

Ward reminds me of some of Prohm's guys that were pretty athletic but raw and unpolished/out of position often.

IIrc they threw Jaz in at the 5 a few games ago and it went bad quickly. King also is needed at the 4 and has enough foul issues there.

Rob kicking it out would maybe create better action but it also helps if the recipient can create or get a hoop.

I absolutely echo this statement. He just seems like a player that can give you that great steal and slam and that’s about it offensively. Have you ever seen him pull up from midrange and knock one down? So, yeah limited offensively. Big Rob might be a better defender but not by much.

The question that needs to be asked is does Ward's limitations on offense do more or less than Rob's bad turnovers and shot selections? I feel like I'd rather have a 0 instead of a negative personally
