Harrison Barnes Interview

You stay classy joefrog.

What is wrong with my post? Am I supposed to care for everybody, no matter what they choose, and especially if they burn those who have given so much to them? How many ISU games has he gotten to go to? Who has paid his mother's salary all these years? What university paid for his father's education?

Stay classy yourself. Sorry if I happen to be a Cyclone fan and could care less for players that can't see how special of a place ISU is and how great the fans are. My bad.

I wonder if WJ stayed and we had a better year Harrison would have put us in a more favorable position. We heard before the year that ISU needed to show progress to be in the running. We didn't. Thanks again WJ. Anyway, bring Melvin Ejim!

This has all changed Harrison so much, he's gotten to be too nice and way too cocky, he'll fit in perfectly at Duke, as a d-bag. He's freaking 16 and all about the #1 business school, HEY KID! You're going to play BASKETBALL for a career, and make MILLIONS, you don't need a degree in finance and managerial studies. I'm not saying education isn't important, I just am sick and tired of this "I'm going to major in business at the #1 school..."

I'm guessing he knows he is going to play basketball for his career, and probably make millions. Doesn't it make sense that he would like to know as much as he can as far as managing his money and his business? I think I'd be worried about people screwing me over if I had that kind of money, and would like to know how to spot when it is or isn't happening.

Getting a undergrad business degree doesn't make that much difference where you went to school, as long as you went to a major University. Going to a #1 business school matters when you get your Masters or PHD, I really don't buy that excuse why he is not coming to ISU.

He needs to come out and say that McD has done nothing in 3 years and he wants to play for a winner. I am one of the biggest ISU fans and if I was in his shoes I don't think I would want to play for McD.

If HB really has decided he doesn’t want to play for ISU because of our poor business school and crappy team, that’s fine, to each his own. But he should stop stringing us along with this “I haven’t ruled anyone out” BS and he could probably stop getting special treatment at games like hanging out with the team in the locker room, etc.

BTW- nice job KCCI, don't let WHO outdo you by having Barnes on Soundoff. Did anybody else hear that whiner John Meyer (sp) on Moron & Miller on Monday throwing a fit every time Moron mentioned the HB appearance on Soundoff?

How often did this happen this year? As far as I know the only game he went to was the KU game.

I agree with others that say they want Ejim. We need to get that guy to fill the vacated spot from Gilstrap. I don't care who else they recruit as long as they get him.

It's threads like these that make me realize that maybe our fanbase isn't as special as I thought. Don't get me wrong... there are a good number of people in this thread that I respect in their attitude toward things. And I cling to the hope that all of the positive fans just gave up reading these threads a long time ago. But reading through this, we seem to be the two faced fans that every other school has too. "We really want you HB" -> quote from HB that makes it sound like he's prolly not gonna come to ISU -> "We don't need you and don't even want you anymore HB"

If I were HB and truly hadn't made a decision yet, and saw how fans changed their attitude toward me like this. I would be announcing that I was going to Duke right now. Who wants to play for people like this? Yeah, they're probably just the same at Duke. But I used to think our fans were what separated ISU from the rest of the country.

(Again, I'm not trying to single out everyone in this thread, as there are a good number that seem to share my opinion here. But just the sheer volume of these types of threads in the last year... Hilton Magic didn't die... just the Amazing Cyclone Fanbase)

Edit: I apologize if anybody feels that my post is directed at them. But this is the way I feel. I think we need to stop putting words in his mouth. Yeah, it's looks like he's not coming here. You can talk abou that... but don't say he's not coming here when he never said that and he never said he's going anywhere else. And I think it's childish to act like we're better than him now. Yeah, we ALL wanted him as far as I know. But there's no reason to hate the guy if he chooses elsewhere.

I think the coaching staff is moving on and recruiting like they aren't going to get HB. If they do get him it's a bonus.

The future of ISU is bright. I think you will see more kids from the Chicago area come to ISU and we will get more athletic starting next year. I truly believe Colvin will have a huge influence on kids coming to ISU from Illinois.

How do you know the coaching staff is "moving on and recruiting like they aren't going to get HB."? I hope they don't give up on recruiting this kid...

He may not be burning anything. How do you know G-Mac didn't say "Hey, feel free to come play with us if you desire. No real competition, just some good pick up ball." He has no reason to have loyalty to Iowa State for taking them up on an offer. How many ISU games has be gotten to? Not nearly as many as Dendy. So does that make Dendy a better potential person? Nope. Who has paid his mother's salary all these years? Who cares! Just because my mom works for an accounting firm doesn't mean I'm not going to work with a different accounting firm. What university paid for his father's education? Again, who cares! He is not his father. He is Harrison, and he can and should make his own decision. Damn some of you are selfish!

He doesn't "owe" anyone anything. He's earned every ounce of what he's gotten.

He owes us nothing, Sullivan owes us nothing. End of story.

That is part of recruiting if plan A doesn't work you always have to have a plan B. They aren't giving up on him but they aren't going to be stuck on him.

I also, think that Colvin will play a huge part in whether or not HB stays or goes. If they build a strong relationship it might be hard for HB to leave. A great point guard that can dish you the ball and make you look good is a selling factor.

Look at how fast this whole practice facility is going up. I have never seen a million dollar project move so fast. Just another selling factor.

I agree with your post 100%, but let me assure you our fanbase isn't any different than any other. There have been a lot of tickets sold the last few years for teams that struggled but I attribute that to Pollard as much as anything.

I agree with what you are saying. No question about that. But is there something that tells you that they (coaches) are recruiting him like they are not going to get him? Meaning they have already moved on to plan "B"....

If you look at how many recruits they are going after in 2010 a lot of them are tall shooting guards of small forwards. That leaves me to believe that they need options. Don't be surprised if they go after Zach McCabe hard this summer.

I think they have moved on to plan B..MELVIN EJIM(which I hope we get this kid). But if plan A wants to come to ISU they will find away for the kid.

Totally agree, good post.
