Hanging with Baylor?

I think that if the 1st quarter of TCU CPR shows up we might just surprise some folks. There is no reason in the world to punt or kick off to Baylor. All we will do is pad their stats with longer fields. We have a better shot at converting a 4th and 9 than our D has at stopping Baylor. Fake everything, go for broke from the first play of the game. That is our only hope IMO.... and the only hope for most teams without shut down D to beat them.

Expect the 70 to happen, and maybe more.

42, though, is a real long shot. We're far more likely to unveil a slow-developing draw into the teeth of your DL than air it out successfully.

West Virginia did the same thing. They had success through the air every time they threw it up, but they insisted on running the ball 44 times for only 182 yards.

I plan to put some masking tape over all but the 1st digit of Baylor's score on TV. I'll be sure to make it wide enough to cover two spaces in case they hit triple digits.

I honestly think they get 80 on us

Briles won't do that. He pulls back almost to a fault (Michigan State). I think if he sees that the other team has accepted defeat, he calls off the dogs. If the other team keeps attacking, so will he. But as soon as he is comfortable he will put in the second string and let them run the up-tempo, balanced offense for some experience, then after a series or two of that he'll just start running it and draining the clock. He will still go for it on fourth down though if he's within the 40 yard line.

Not a chance. Baylors offense is amazing. Their offense averages 720 yards a game 371 passing yards and 341 rushing yards. Score 64 points a game, thats more than some CBB teams.

71-35 Baylor

More than any BigTen team scores anyway.

After hanging with TCU for a half, is it possible that we can hang with Baylor on the road? I haven't watched any Baylor games this year but have seen a few highlights. How different are they from TCU? How is their defense? If you were coaching this game, what would your plan of attack be?

I don't know how good their secondary is, but I would like to see more deep sideline passes to Lazard and also any type of pass to Montgomery that gives him an opportunity to break some tackles.

I'm feeling something like:
Baylor: 67
ISU: 28 <-- at least one TD comes in the last 4 minutes

Depending on how it happens, this may not be too bad of a score.

I'm going to try and foreshadow and say we are going to need to take care of the football. If it's going to be as wet as they're saying, both teams will be putting the ball on the ground a few times today. Make it once or twice for us and five or six times for them to keep things interesting.
