Greg Ross - New grad transfer

The biggest thing to help our secondary this season over last would be having a healthy #12.

This is 100% accurate. In fact I would say you could replace the word “secondary” with “defense”. With Eisworth in there we are basically playing a 3-4 because he fits and tackles like an LB he just also happens to be really solid in coverage.

I feel like with how violently Eisworth plays the game.... injuries are always going to be an issue.

IMO there are ways that he could be smarter with how he plays that could save his body.... and head.

Lost Bickham or whatever his name is also. You know, they guy who missed 78 tackles last year. Here is a potential two-deep look at secondary:

S
L. White
D. Miller

S
G. Ross
I. Young

STAR
G. Eisworth
A. Azunna

CB
A. Johnson
K. King

CB
T. Kyle
D. Young

Hopefully Keontae Jones steps his game up this year.
From what I’ve read in various places, Matt seems to be inking Eisworth in at SS. Star would probably be between Isheem Young and Azunna.

I’m curious. How well would a guy listed at 6’0” 188 fit at Star in the current iteration of Jon Heacock’s defense? I don’t have the background to answer that. Anyone?

IMO there are ways that he could be smarter with how he plays that could save his body.... and head.
I think this would be why CMC wants to slot Greg at a safety spot, save a little on wear and tear.

I saw that. Didn't sound too good to me, and didn't sound like Covid as the issue to me either. Campbell's comments in the register article gives me the feeling that Ross is not very likely to be a Cyclone.

If he makes it here he will bring good depth but I like the DB group we have as well. Think the defense will be strong this year.
