Great Interview with Coach Campbell

Only part I didn't like about it was when he said he couldn't care less about the money and doesn't even know what he's being paid.

That's BS and everyone knows it. No one will fault you for getting a promotion and increase in pay. You don't need to make excuses for it.

No, that's called being humble and not caring about the $$$. It's nice but it's not what you try to find as a coach. He wants the challenge to change this losing culture into a winning one. That's really makes me happy that he said that. And heck, at that time he might not been able to talk about the money until he officially starts! IMO

This I could actually see and would make sense. Maybe at the time of the interview the final pieces weren't hammered out yet and he wasn't actually allowed to talk about it.

Doesnt know what were paying him.. Right.

You can be humble and not say its about the $$ cause that can be true, but I dont believe he took the job without knowing what we are offering. That makes no sense.

The excuse was saying it's not about the money, and if that was the case, we'd have signed him for the 800k Toledo was offering him.

Again. I really like the hire. I like him. That line just seemed cheesy.

Ok, everyone lay off pants...he's expressing his opinion. It's flawed, but it's from his perspective on things.

Pants: there really are people who love their job so much that once they hit a certain level, they don't care how much they make. I do know how much I make, but if I didn't get reminded once in a while, I'd probably forget exactly as well.

Saying it is not about the money isn't exactly the same as saying the money didn't need to be there. Would he have come for the same as what he was getting at Toledo? Of course not, you don't take a promotion without wanting to get a bump, but that does equate to it being about the money.

He is saying all the right things, which is expected but is needed. I am sure he had the ability to "win" the interview so hopefully JP and Co came in skeptical enough to give other candidates a chance.

If somebody offers me $15 million to coach for 6 years at a P5 school, from my current salary of around $450,000 at a G5 school, yeah, I might accept without knowing all the $$$ details my agent worked out behind the scenes. Campbell's point was that he was more than impressed by the offer and what he knew of ISU.

I'm glad to hear it.

I think the other half of that decision is all of the internal problems that are being aired out by Mizzou and it's students recently...
The primary reason is that Missouri told him that they are interviewing more candidates this week. He didn't want to wait and liked what he heard from ISU. Had Missouri been ready to offer, they may have gotten him. They weren't so it doesn't matter. I think we got a solid hire. Someone most of the pundits probably thought wouldn't take this job.

Because if he said "No ****, can you believe they're paying me that much? I mean, I'll never have to worry about money again if I'm smart."...you'd think he was an *******.

The guy can't win and he's been the coach for a couple of days.

I think anyone who says they left something better than it was when they started (and it's true) is the kind of person we need.

Maybe the agent was handling negotiations and he didn't know the exact amount. He acknowledged that he knew it was a lot. But that it was not about the money.

Anything else you want to ***** about? Do you have anything positive to say?

This is going to be really weird supporting the same coach with Stormin for a while.

I have been consistent through the whole process. I supported the decision to let CPR coach this whole year and supported him through the season. If you would looks back, you would see that after the K-State game that there was no doubt that CPR should be fired and it was time to part ways.

Some people say I am just a blind follower. I am not. I am fully supportive of the decisions made and allow them to play out. I will have patience with Matt Campbell. And will not be calling for him to be fired if we have a bit of adversity. IMO, we got a damn good football coach to replace CPR.
