I wasn’t sure this was a good idea. Still not sure but the trailer is great. I’ll go in with more optimism than before.

It certainly looks the part. But you could tell pretty clearly when GOT ran out of book material. They don't take the chances like they did early on. I hope they don't do the same with this.
What made GOT great was the willingness to let characters die and create oh **** moments all the time. Once the books were done, we didn't see the same.
Are you listing Lady Stoneheart as a knock on the books? If so, I strenuously disagree. I find that storyline to be one of the more interesting ones in the books. You can lay so much of the bad things that happen to the Stark family at the feet of Catelyn and her action/inaction due to her love for her family. Her transformation from protagonist to antagonist is one of the better tales being told in the series, in my opinion. I think it was a mistake for the show to leave it out.I disagree with this in general. The books included Jon getting stabbed when everybody knew he was coming back. The books included Cat returning as Lady Stoneheart. The entire story stopped being as shocking after the red wedding.
PS The books aren't nearly as good after aSoS either. Plus they'll never get finished so I get a little irked when people start throwing that out there.
