Good game. I'll give you a few observations from an opposing fan point of view. Take them or leave them.
Your defense is good. LBs were as good as advertised. Your DL was good as well. DBs played well despite our receivers having the height advantage. They tackled well.
Your offense... I know the OC is new but I'm not sure about some of the play calling. I don't know why they ran straight up the middle in the second half when we had all those people in the box. I don't know why WR screens, quick slants, etc were not called. To try and get our defense out of the box.
Some seem to be blaming the OL. Now as a TTU fan I like to think the TTU DL is good not that the ISU OL is bad. But I really don't think they are the sole reason for the problems on offense in the game.
I'm not sure about Jantz. From reading threads here... I get that he's the better athlete with a better arm. That 3rd and 20 conversion was him making something happen so credit due there. But his decision making is what gets him in trouble it seems like. Since he's a SR I don't think that is going to change. I think Iowa St would be good with a sort of game manager type QB. Someone who doesn't turn the ball over. Takes what the defense gives him. They don't need to throw the ball 60 yards down the field to be able to do that. You don't have to win the game on every play just get 1st downs.
