Good barbers in Ames?

Always went to Monty, but sometimes it was like an hour wait to get a cut. You had to time it right, or be willing to wait a while. Saw a couple professors in there getting hair cuts too. Monty's was nice becuase it was only a few blocks off campus, so I'd just go if I had a couple hours to kill.

I went to finesse last night in north ames sure its a salon but dude its like 30 hot chicks all around u while getting your haircut

Monty is the man, went there all through college. He'll talk ISU all day and is a good guy

Yes, his name is Ray. IMO, very nice guy. Definitely a different character, but always interesting conversation. He genuinely cared about people too and always remembered insignificant things about me from our past conversations.

Good to hear he's still in business up there!

Yeah, he has to have been in business at least 20 years or so.

Because i like to look at hot chicks while i get my haircut?

say a gay bar has really cheap drinks, yea the drinks are cheap but....

and don't lie, you guy for the pedicure and spray tan!!! Isn't it a manlaw that dudes don't go to salons for haircuts?

I've been shaving my own head for the longest time, but I think I wanna try something new now and I'll defer to a professional. Any suggestions for a good, hopefully cheap barber around?

What do these guys charge?

Loved going to Monty's, especially since he is friends with a bunch of my dad's HS friends, and loved talking ISU with him... the guy has been there for 30 years and has seen it all.

That said, hes barber skills are just average. My biggest complaint is that he doesn't wet down your hair before he cuts it, so it goes everywhere. Probably the only place that I used to take a shower BEFORE I got my haircut...

I think Monty charges about 11 or 12 bucks for a haircut. The haircuts aren't that bad but I always went for the conversation. Monty has the same great "reading material" the other place has, it's on top of the air conditioner. If you want a really good haircut go down to sportclips on south duff. I've never had anything but a good haircut there and you get your own personal tv set to espn.
