Same. I have never bemoaned someone because they aren’t good. The game is hard. I get frustrated when there are easy things that can be done to keep pace, and those things are ignored.

Same. I have never bemoaned someone because they aren’t good. The game is hard. I get frustrated when there are easy things that can be done to keep pace, and those things are ignored.
I run into a dilemma in spots similar to this. Not with the wind in my face, but there are times when the group ahead of me is generally safe from my tee shot, unless I actually put a good swing on it. I end up with a 250+ drive maybe once or twice every couple rounds. Often enough that I feel like I have to respect the possibility, but still infrequently enough that I get really nervous when another group comes to the tee (happens a lot at the first tee for me, depending on the course).
No one is safe when I get to the tee. I've hit some 300 or 200 plus 100 yds left or right.
Same here. I usually try to let people play through in those situations whenever practical, just to save myself the potential embarrassment.
I haven't played for ages. I enjoyed it mostly even shooting over 100 and playing with better players always, but the time I teed off straight right through a cart tops all my best shots. Just too much crap to deal with. I mean I can only fill up so many ponds and forests.
1) I'm guessing that they are all just too busy posting on message boards.
2) I'm also guessing that this "joke" has been used already (I didn't read thread).
3) Politely say something. They may just not know what's up.
I am retired and work as a ranger at a public course in the DM area. I agree there is a lot of slow play but one issue is the people who think they will hit every shot like the pros so they wait till the group ahead is off the green. Then they hit it half the distance it would have taken to hit into the group. then there are those on the greens who think it is the Masters and have to look at their putt from as many angles as the pros do and then miss a 2 foot putt. Is does get interesting at times.
I'll wait till the green clears to hit my 300 yard shot, I probably won't hit it 200 but there's always a chance.
Same for me. I'm a slightly above average golfer that can hit it a ways. I could hit a 280 yard 3 wood. It's highly improbable that I will. I also think that if you're waiting on that shot, it doesn't really matter. You're going to be waiting in the future anyway.
At the end of the day, I guess I'd rather be the doofus who thought he could do something he didn't rather than the guy who doorknobbed a 70 year old lady.
And you have to wait extra long for the area to safely clear, because honestly that is a large area.
Yeah, it never fails, I'll hit a great drive when there's people up ahead and it goes into them.
There’s definitely a time and place not to suck. One sucky guy in a four on a decent course isn’t bad. Two sucky guys in a four in a decent course need to be split up in the carts (because if they suck at golf they don’t know the efficiencies of moving around the course properly). Any more than two sucky guys in a four on a decent course on a busy day is a disaster. Go to the range. Or go drive 30 minutes out of town to the Jean shorts course. Then when you get better come back to the real courses.
I know plenty of ****** golfers that know how to move around a course. Wtf are you talking about?
Nobody said you can have 5 extra hits. If you top a drive that goes 25 yards into the water to the left, I don't have an issue with you teeing it up again. If you do it again, it's time to drop it next to one of your friends' drives. You won't get harassed if you know when and when not to take another hack.
Buy a beer for the entire clubhouse.
Nobody will believe you except the people who got the free beer.
I always got a kick out of that unwritten rule. Hit a hole in one/get penalized. That won't be me.
