Golf Club Question

Im going to go buy a 2H today. The reason being I cannot hit a 3w. Would you agree that a 2H is closest to a 3w? Never hit one, would you agree they are easier to hit? Im between a 3h and a 2H but I dont swing hard and I need max distance off fareway. Currently I use my 4I because thats the longest club I have other than my 1 and 3w. I need a club to get me from my drive to close to green on a par 5.
 
Its been about 6 years since I was really involved in the golf world (use to clean clubs at a county club), but from what i remember each brand of club can have its own definition of a certian club. For example a sand wedge made by Ping might have a few degrees more loft than one made by Cleveland or visa versa. So really it might depend on what brand of hybrid club youre gonna get (Im assuming thats what the 2H stands for?)

To answer your question a little more directly I think the 2H might be more comparable to a 5 wood in degrees loft.

Also ive never hit a hydrid before but I would have to say that it would be a little more forgiving of a club as compared to a 2, 3 or 4 iron. As the saying goes "...even god cant hit a 2 iron."

Remember though a lot of this game is mental. Eventually the perceived "honeymoon" period with the club ends and the bad habits of the golfer tend to return.

A 2H would be similar to a 5wood or 2 iron. I have a 1 Hybrid because it was something I could hit really low if it was windy, but other than that it has few redeeming qualities. It certainly isn't as long.

So if I cant hit woods off the fairway, what would you reccomend? I didnt even know there was a 1H. Wouldnt a 2h be my best bet? PS I also cant hit a 4 iron lol. I realize I need to practice but Im looking for improvement now while I work on the othr things.

Buying a new golf club won't help you. Invest in lessons with a good pro.

When you say you can't hit woods off the fairway or your 4 iron what does that mean? Are they going right, left or are you topping them or what's happening?

I have a 2 and 3 hybrid iron and love them, but got them because o cant hit a 3 or 4 iron. So chances are, you might be able to hit a hybrid well. Your best bet is to go to golf galaxy or a place that you can hit a club that you want to try. Different brands will prolly have different lofts even when they are the all called a 2 hybrid.

Ive had several lessons. Im still working on it, meanwhile I want to have a club that I can hit as a 2nd shot on a par 4-5.

When I say I cant hit woods I mean I have difficulty hitting them when not on a tee. When I say I cant hit Irons, all my shots are straight, no prob there, I just miss hit them, I heard hybrids are very forging especially if you select a game improvement club like a nike machspeed or similar.
 
I don't believe any Hybrid will replicate the distance of a 3w. It may be you just don't need that club, and you can lay up on par 5's which is not a bad idea anyway. Add in an additional wedge and improve your short game from 40-60 yards. There is no reason to go for the green when you can lay up to your Pitching wedge and get a lie off of the fairway versus the uneven rough around a raised green.

Before you give up on the 3w find some instructional videos on youtube and try to hit the club.

I don't find Hybrids that much easier to hit than Irons. Also, if you are using your Irons swing for your Woods it will be too steep and cause mishits. You may need to flatten out your swing. I have a hard time going between my Driver swing and my Irons swing, I tend to let them affect each other.

A two hyrid would be ok. I would really work on learning to hit 3 and 5 woods. Those clubs are much more useful than hybrids when you get to hitting them properly. I haven't ever had much luck with hybrids either though so maybe I'm not the best to talk to. In my experience they have always been shorter not to mention much less controllable for me.

A "driver swing" and a "fairway wood swing" as you put them, are different. You should have a similiar swing with a wood as you would a long iron.

I have two hybrids but I still hit my 3 and 4 irons occasionally. A hybrid is definitely more forgiving and easier to hit, BUT you still need to hit down on the ball like you do with your irons and should with your woods.

Next time you're at the range take a broken tee and place it about 2 or 3 inches in front of your ball. Make yourself hit that broken tee off the ground after you hit the ball. It will force you to hit down and through the golf ball rather than help it in the air. It's the best "drill" I've used on myself and with other people.

Right, My wedge game is beautiful. My pitching wedge and then I also use an approach wedge. The problem is I need to a club to go from driver to my PW or AW. So thats where I thought a 2h would be handy as opposed to a 3w.

Currently I hit my driver, then my 4 and then some other smaller iron then a AW. So it takes me at least 4 to get to green. I want to hit driver, then some other club then an approach thus cutting out a club. Im not trying to argue as I know nothing about golf.

I respectfully disagree. You only need one swing for all clubs. The only thing that changes is the ball position to determine if you are hitting down on the ball (irons) or if you are doing more of a sweeping motion (woods). It worked for Jack Nicklaus, it works for us average joe's.

If you just hit your driver farther and your 4 farther, maybe you would be on the green. :wink:

With what club do you do this drill, explain hitting down on the ball if you could.

also and just throwing this out there, I for the life of me cannot benefit from lessons, I cannot have people show me how to do things I just cant do it. Plus I get all nervous and hot and its almost a terrifying experience.
