Going to Austin? Read This!

The DFW Club has teamed up with the Austin and Houston clubs and has arranged a large pregame and postgame gathering at Scholz Garten in Austin before attending the ISU at Texas Men's basketball game on Saturday Feb 21st. Everyone is encouraged to attend and hang out with fellow Cyclone fans. This is strictly informal and come and go as you please. We will be meeting in the large outdoor patio area starting at 9:30AM (We have arranged for an early opening) and then head over to the Erwin Center by 12:30 for the 1:00 tipoff. We have sold a large number of game tickets and this is usually a large event both before and after the game. Join us and invite your friends, this is going to be a Cyclone Hoedown for the ages.

Scholz will have food and beverage services available from 9:30 AM.

Forecasted high of 75F and cloudy (sorry if that's rubbing it in up north right now ;-) so we'll likely be out in the large courtyard instead of the banquet hall.

If you haven't been here before the state parking garages starting just south of Scholz's along San Jacinto Blvd (one-way southbound only) are recommended since you only have a few block walk to Erwin Center anyway. The garages next to Scholz's are sometimes for Longhorn Foundation donors only depending on game popularity. But the attendants often arrive late so more the reason to slip in early to get to Scholz's ;-)

If you're thinking of a last-minute trip there still are balcony seats thru UT Box Office online. UT office says ISU player Will Call should be Section 92 if you want to at least sit close to fellow Staters. I'm also told unlike past years they will NOT announce on the PA into gametime that people can move down seats mainly because UT broke their season ticket sales record and the arena seats sold out before New Years this time. Ushers are supposed to be checking the lower tier harder. Given the Horns have dropped from earlier expectations you can try to move but have more of a chance of that awkward bump by late arrivals.

Been 10 years since I saw our last win in Erwin (and in OT). Pretty sure after the Iba loss record collapsed last year Erwin is now the longest. After last night's roadshow I'm ready see this record finally die, too!
 
Iowa State games in Texas are a lot of fun thanks to these events. Iowa State games vs UT should be a destination for all Cyclone fans. Great city with great ISU events.
 
Great job on organizing the event, Barry. It was nice to meet you and other Cyclones. We had a great time. Now back to Iowa!
 
I didn't make it to the event but the game was a blast...there were a ton of ISU fans there. We got great seats for cheap so thank you Texas fans for not being basketball fans :)

After the game when celebrating on 6th street, heard a lot of good game comments from people and ran into some ISU fans. Plus the weather was amazing, I wasn't missing Iowa winter at all

It was a great day to be a Cyclone.
