Going forward, what does ISU do on defense?

Today's game was really exciting, and the offense had a chance to win it in the 4th, but the defense, particularly against the run was horrible. Linnwood was making everyone look silly out there. Tons of missed tackles near the line of scrimmage, and huge holes right up the middle.

Hopefully it's just Baylor Bayloring us. Our pass coverage is good. Russel didn't even look at Peavy today. We need the run defense to catch up.

I think only one is coming at this point?

both are still commited

Better personnel at LB and DL would be the big help. Looks like this staff is doing a good job of taking care of that issue. I think our defense is going to take huge strides in the next 2 seasons.

You can't have it all against Baylor. I thought we did a nice job shutting down their passing attack. Linwood gonna Linwood but our inability to knock their QB out of the game was what cost us. We had plenty of chances but he always got away.

Not sure that having a game plan to knock the opposing QB out of the game is a solid one. He did take a few pretty good hits, and seemed to pop right up.

I agree, Linnwood is a stud, but there were way too many 5 yard gains that turned into 15+ yards because guys just plain didn't do a good job of tackling. There were also a couple plays where he ran straight up the middle, and I couldn't see a linebacker anywhere on the tv screen. Maybe they were in coverage, but, when you are getting gashed like that, I think you have to stay home.

We were really gashed when Cotton Moya went out. I realize it has been bad all year. But we have some serious LB issues because of the personnel that we lost.

Was just going to say this.

Also Tucker was kept out for about a quarter and a half after his taunting penalty.

If they could have just eliminated a couple of those penalties in the first half (the off sides on Northrup(?) comes to mind as well), we could have been up 3 scores and that may have been enough to hold on.
