Glock 26 or Ruger LCP?

I have shot both, and will be getting the Bersa in satin nickel. The LCP is a better CCW due to size and weight since it's a mouse gun. I like the Bersa better for durability and accuracy, and CC wasn't an issue since we can't CC in Illinois.

It must be nice to not live in story county...

Mine would be for CCW (I grew up in Ill so I understand where you're coming from).

I prefer the term Pocket Rocket over Mouse Gun.

Shoot. for some reason i thought as long as it was cover like with a shirt or coat/whatever it was considered concealed. didnt know it had to be practically invisible. learn something new every day.

Well, it seems to get tricky if your shirt pulls up a bit and people can see it, then you are not technically concealed. I'm no expert on that part of the law, but I'm sure there is some kind of penalty. I'm going to try and avoid that scenario altogether...

yea that makes sense

FWIW, I've heard nothing but bad things about the LCP. Never shot one. For el cheapo carry guns, I hear that Bersas are fine.

The only issues with Glock that I know about are related to the .40s and bigger, as well as with weapon-mounted lights causing misfeeds.

Glock 26 is the heat for what you want.

+1...Love 'em.

I have a glock 27 as my "carry" gun. I looked at several others, and actually wanted a smith&wesson M&P compact, but couldn't find one at the time. The glock is ultra-reliable and easy to fire. It comes down to feel for me. Personally, I feel round placement is more important than caliber between the lcp and the 26. I have several other .40's and that is the reason I went with the 27.

What bad things, specifically?

I would prefer the Glock but the Ruger is certainly priced attractively...

I agree on your comment regarding shot placement. I have been doing a lot of practice with my Springfield and will be doing a lot more with what I end up as the carry gun. Also, it would be handy to have my two guns be the same caliber.

I carry the LCP off duty and would recommend it. It is small and easy to carry. I have an inside the waistband holster that even carries an extra magazine and it fits comfortably. It is intended for close shooting so don't plan on using the sites. Just point and shoot. I know plenty of officers that carry it and I haven't heard any complaints or problems.

First..I dont screw around IF I carry which I do at times, go get a Glock.45 ACP with two spare clips of 13 if you pull it out at least scare them. Second I carry a quick release. Its a great holster and is quick on the draw. My back up is a Walther PPK 380.

If you know anything about these two guns, and have any thoughts, chime in. Glock 26 ~$500 and Ruger LCP ~$300, and I am frugal (my wife would probably say cheap). Thoughts? Anyone own / carry either of those two?

I don't know anything about the Ruger LCP so I did a google search. The first thing that came up on Rugers web sight was a large banner regarding the "LCP RECALL" Nuff said.
I do know about Glock's, carry one every day and am a certified Glock armorer. You can't beat the price and reliability(29 parts total). I personally wouldn't go smaller than the 9mm and Ruger's overall reliability(in semi-auto handguns) is not great.
I'd get the G26 with(or add later)night sights. If you don't like the feel without the finger extensions on the mags you can add those later too and you'll be able to get your little finger on the grip as well.
Hope this helps, and be carefull!!!

Thanks to everybody for the advice. It really seems that Glock 26 pocket carry is going to be right for me.

Don't know about IL but here in NC, what you're describing 'shirt draped over gun' IS considered concealed and you'd better be totin' your permit. Although we have open carry here, concealed is very stringent....ie, it's on the front seat of your car with a magazine laying half over it....you get stopped and don't have a concealed carry permit (even though it's open carry allowable here) you're in big trouble; unless in plain site, it's concealed. Interesting all the differences in states.

State restriction differences are very interesting, especially considering that I thought that the Federal law regarding firearms was basically that the right of the people to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed.

Either I must not know the definition of the word "infringed", or the states don't. Must be me!
