Getting Old - Kids and Slang

When my son was 3 years old, I dropped him off at daycare wearing a pair of checkered "Jeff Spicoli" shoes. The young 20ish year old teacher said those shoes were "tight." At first I thought she was saying I bought a size too small for him. Turns out she meant to say they were "cool."
Now that's a word we said when I was in high school 20 years ago. Tight. Bling. That's bad.

Apparently doing "dabs" is akin to some kind of bro handshake. Was taught that two weeks ago.

Told the kid "well, it's better than doing the other 'dabs'". She had no idea what that even meant.
