I need help deciding on a new phone. My families contract is up finally and I am deciding between 3 phones and need help picking it.

I have Sprint so the three contenders are the iPhone 4S, HTC EVO 4G LTE, and Samsung Galaxy S3.

I currently have the HTC Hero, and loved it until these past 6 months when apps were getting larger and needed extra computing power to even run... I love Andoid because of the widget features but I hear iOS is getting that... maybe?

My only stipulation was that it needed an Otterbox like case for the phone because I am really rough with my phones. The iPhone has these waterproof cases which might actually sway me over to that side purely for that reason.

Needless to say I would be happy with all 3 choices but I need some deciding factor to choose one over the other two.

Convenient. Travel friendly. A ton of cool apps. Great service but can be spotty at time. Text message and data rates are really cheap! :jimlad:

but i would go with the samsung. i've had a couple of samsungs and i have never had a single problem. But the first htc brand phone i had had issues within the first month. then i smashed the screen :(. My dad didnt really like his either. My mom has the iphone and she really likes it. Apple stuff just seems so expensive all the time. But i really think you cant go wrong. I would try and get the feel for all of them if you have buddies that with those phones

If you're thinking iPhone, just wait for the iPhone5. If you're dying to get one right now, I'd go with the Samsung.

I got my GS3 yesterday and I would definitely suggest you get that. It is blazing fast, lightweight, and thin. The only issue might be is that the screen is big which might be an adjustment if you're not used to it.

Now let's be realistic. That isn't a phone that will work. However, I recommend the car phone. Gets the best reception of any phone you buy today.

Galaxy s 3 for sure. Fast phone, good features and I bet will be one of the first non nexus devices with jellybean. Plus there will be a large dev community for it with it being such a wide release.

I can't stand otterboxes. It makes the phone twice as big and bulky.

Yeah, but if he gets an iPhone, they're made of glass - I've had multiple friends shatter their screens by dropping it. My Otterbox is cumbersome, but it's saved my phone several times.

If they weren't so freaking huge, I would have gotten a Razr Maxx after my last phone (a Droid Incredible). Since the iPhone was the smallest phone on the market this spring, I got it (I still prefer the Droid OS by far). In hindsight, I probably should have let the Incredible limp along until the iPhone 5 comes out.

You could do what I did and buy a Gz'One Commando:

It's military-grade water, shock, and dust proof. It has a thickened screen too. I do field work in wetlands all of the time so I needed an everything-proof phone. This one fits the bill. The only downfall is that it is Android 2.3. I've heard their coming out with a new one this summer though that I presume will be Android 4.

I have the Samsung Galaxy S2 and absolutely love it. In my opinion, just as good if not better than the iPhone (I'm also on uscellular so that wasn't an option anyway.)

I'm sure the galaxy 3 has only improved

That's what I'm doing with my Incredible. Helps that my brother-in-law and I were able to swap out my cracked screen with a new $15 screen I found on Amazon. Saved the phone. Too bad the phone gets buggier and buggier with each system update. You would think doing a full system restore just to get the OTA update to work right would prevent the bug issues, but apparently not. That being said, this phone is the first phone in years I haven't outright hated by this point of my ownership. In fact, I still think this phone is awesome, even for its age.
