While we tried to keep the rumors off the site regarding the 4th hand here-say carried on a Texas radio station about Chizik apparently making remarks about regretting taking the ISU job, it is now out of our hands as it's been carried in more media outlets and is a news rumor/story - regardless of if it's true or not.

We try to keep rumors and speculation off of the site until they can be proven to some degree, or at least attributed to their rightful source, but this is now something that has legs and we don't feel is something we can, or should, keep quiet.

I (we) have no reason to believe the rumors are true, at least in the way they are stated, but we aren't here to answer to those rumors, just to give a place for the rumors to either be debunked or discussed.

Please remember that the rumor contains 4th hand here-say from anonymous sources and is completely out of character for what we know of Chizik and how he handles things.

I am only posting this thread so we can contain all of the rumor discussion to one thread instead of the numerous threads that have popped up over the past 48 hours.

First off, let me say this. Chizik would NEVER tell anyone that this was a mistake, it makes him look like a whiner, and that is contrary to everything we have ever seen. I could see him saying this to his wife, but that would be only person in the world he would confide in.

I'm not suggesting he said anything like that but I could see a guy telling people other than his wife he was second guessing his job selection.

I agree. I also think that any remarks that he may have said would have been closer to "this losing gets old, glad we'll be winning the North in a few years".

My point is that whatever he MAY have said never would have been in reference to regretting coming to ISU. He may have vented about losing, but he never would have told an opposing coach that he regrets coming to ISU. That just isn't Chizik and I can't believe he would even tell his wife that.

I believe it to be a rumor started by a couple radio station disc jockeys. Their source a rival teams coaching staff....?

My opinon TOTALLY NO TRUTH......:skeptical:

I will choose to believe Gene's direct comment on the issue.

Boys let me say that I don't think that Gene Chizik would ever say it was a mistake to come to ISU!!

There are lot of things that YOU THINK BUT YOU DONT SAY...and this is one of them, I just dont think that Gene would ever say this even if he thought it!!

Maybe JP should call up the disc jockeys and ask them for their sources. The easiest way to shut them up is to beat Mizzou.

I hadn't heard this hearsay , but this is the type of thing that is usually attributed to a broadcast announcer stating, "so-and-so probably etc, etc..." and then someone hears it and says its attributed not to the announcer but to the comment they made about the person who the rumor is now about.

The Waterloo Courier printed it and Chizik was asked about it at the presser after the game yesterday.

As for the transcript of the presser when confronted about the rumors....

Reporter: Coach, there’s been talk on a Dallas radio station that you told an Oklahoma State coach that you were unhappy in Ames. Is there anything to that or any truth to that at all?

Chizik: What?

Reporter: Told an Oklahoma State assistant coach that you regretted coming to Iowa State. This was talk radio in Dallas but we’ve heard about it.

Chizik: That’s a joke. That’s a total joke. I don’t know where you got that.

Surely the presser yesterday is not the first time Gene has heard about this.

Sounds like an Oklahoma State ASSistant Coach may be a culprit for He Said, She said.

I think Chizik should go off Gundy style about this. Gundy seems to have the backing of his players since his rant. The team has gotten much better. I think sometimes coaches need to vent in public so the kids see how much they believe in what they are trying to do.

He should have went off at the presser.

Blowing up on the press would just make him look like an ***. Getting overly defensive doesn't exactly scream innocence.

Difficult to know what is truth here, but from my perspective I see the following:

+ Credibility of the source seems questionable.

+ Chizik seems like a very committed individual and I would be very surprised if he ever uttered anything remotely close to these comments to anyone because I would be very surprised if he is even thinking these type of thoughts.

+ This clearly is something that someone from another team may have put out there hoping to hinder our recruiting in Texas and help their own...I think about every team in the Big 12 recruits Texas hard.
