Gator at Disney

In my opinion, lawyers will have a field day with this. You have a beach, that leads into a body of water, at a resort geared towards children. You also have signage that basically admits to the water not being safe. I think you could certainly argue with all those factors it becomes incumbent on Disney to owe a little higher duty of care to their patrons than a sign (that a 2 year old kid can't read, of course) saying to stay out of the water.
This is not personal, but is no one responsible for anything anymore? Do parents have no responsibilty to watch their kids and make sure they are mindful of danger, whatever it may be?

I guess people should start suing states for shark attacks because no one protected them. Some things in nature are just dangerous, man. I feel terrible for the family but I just see no way Disney should be held liable for this. It just boggles my mind people can see it that way.

Disney will settle this quietly in a heartbeat. They don't need the bad PR. They will make a decent compassionate offer. Unless the family wants $100M or something, they will settle very fast.

I didn't hear the exact details, so thanks for some insight. I just heard it's not a place folks are supposed to swim.

So sad. It's built on a swamp, so probably very difficult to keep all animals at bay...but if there was this much interaction/accessibility of guests you'd think they'd have some measures in place.

They are all over Florida and they rarely attack. Central Florida ns swim in swamps all the time. It's like a shark or a mountain lion attack. It sucks but is very rare and nearly impossible to prevent.

A photo of Lane (likely provided by the family) is going around on Twitter. Not sure if I can go to sleep with that cute, innocent little face in my mind now

Cried last night when I heard the news and tonight when I saw that precious little boy. Can't fathom the grief for the family, breaks my heart.
