Garza declares for the NBA

This is a no brainer, Idk why he would consider coming back. He's already proven to scouts what he can do against college competition. He'd be best served to go pro, even if he ends up in the G league or overseas, he'll be doing more for his NBA prospects by proving himself there than in college. Look at guys like Burton and Matt Thomas, neither were NBA players out of college but both got themselves in the league by playing against pro competition overseas. That's the route he needs to go, he's hit his college ceiling.

Its a weak draft class. I'm surprised he's not viewed as a better draft prospect; hope he goes.

He needs to go this year if he wants a shot to get drafted.
Individual workouts will do nothing but hurt him. Can you imagine him going 1:1 against Obi Toppin in a workout? LOL
He would get so exposed.

Maybe this is why slippery Frank shares so many videos of him just shooting set shots. Give the NBA a little extra film to secretly watch.

If he isn't viewed as draftable this year next year won't be any different.
That's correct. Him coming back next year is not going to enhance his draft stock any. If they're saying he has a shot to get drafted this year, he's gone. Right now, he could go the G-League route or go overseas for sure. The only reason for him coming back to Iowa would be because he wants to keep playing CBB. There will no other reason.

Where are this Gitwitit and tryharder at? This seems so unlike them to not post on a subject pertaining to Iowa Basketball. Did they pick up there ball and go home? I was waiting for some good conversation with these guys...but crickets chirping.

Last time I checked he wasn’t in ANY 2 round mocks. As in zero.
Yeah but we don't know how his workouts will go or anything along those lines. I too have a hard time seeing him get drafted, but that doesn't mean someone won't think about it. Even if someone is thinking about it, I think he ends up leaving.

I really don't know that he'd be bad in the NBA. He is a skilled ball player with plus post moves and a nice shooting stroke. He's a tough rebounder and plays great with his back to the basket and can spot up shoot fairly well. What doesn't translate is his lack of foot speed, acceleration, athleticism, jumping ability, lateral quickness, and stamina that I can think of. I would think though, that at the very least, based on the things he is good at, he could at least be an end of bench guy in the league. The 3rd C on a team good for 5-6 mpg here and there.

If he has any desire to play in the NBA he has to make the jump this year and start working in the G league. If he stays he is pretty much a lock to go to Europe.

Live look in at those posters trying to find spin zones on how Iowa is going to be good next year.

I think he could make a good role player in the NBA.

I hope he goes because if he comes back I am afraid he could lead Iowa to a pretty special season next year while we suck, which would make next winter unbearable.

Garza will be fine in the NBA and will have a role. I think it's a little dumb for fans of Georges, who is shorter, had no athleticism, and had a three point shot that needed to be retooled for a quicker release to scoff at Garza playing in the league.

Despite the fact he's a Hawk and his Dad is an annoying felon and conman, I really respect Garza and his game.

I mean, if Brook Lopez can be an All-Star and key player on the team with the best record in the NBA, surely a guy like Garza can have a role for some team.
