Gary Barta everybody

If you live in a glass house you shouldn't throw stones!

Here is what I know on this topic (some insider info). I'm an ISU alum and fan. However, my daughter is a freshman at U of I. She is roommates with some Hawkeye marching band members (so I had to ask what she knows).

My daughter attended the Miami (Ohio) vs. Iowa game a few weeks ago. She says she was embarrassed how badly the U of I students treated the visiting marching band from Miami of Ohio. they were cursing at them from close range and tossing items at them as they lined up to march (although I am not sure what that was exactly).

Fast forward to the ISU vs Iowa game she says afterward that the complaint was that there was an ISU fan (one fan!) who was yelling at them non stop and that was annoying to them. additionally, some fans had poked holes in their beers and it was running out and onto them. I told her that ISU doesn't allow beer in the stadium....so that doesn't make sense unless it was outside the stadium.
Whiners!

I find it hard to believe an Iowa State fan would waste beer like that.

True, but apparently hack fans are perfectly content wasting beer (and they have terrible aim while at it)

So JP should send out a press release and file a lawsuit about this, right? I mean, there's video footage.

You know, this is the second time recently that we have been hit with innuendo and zero evidence, and it has escalated to a national level. We all know how the last one panned out.

At this point, the band members, Barta AND Harreld need to put up or shut the **** up. This is beyond ridiculous at this point.

Stories about this really ought to be reminding the reader that Barta has incorrectly accused ISU of misdeeds in this game in the past.

It adds context to the reaction of ISU fans and officials.

I haven't seen that covered however.

I agree. To the outsider, we probably look callous. If there had not been a track record, we might have reacted differently. And if we talk about issues in the past at IC (which we HAVE talked about previously, but mostly here), it just looks like "nanny nanny boo boo you do it too!" to outsiders. Rock and a hard place, and as long as Barta & UI control the narrative (insinuating but not providing evidence) and the press lets them get away with it, ISU will continue to look bad.
