Gary Barta everybody

If assault took place or a person was physically injured, I would never condone that in this setting. It's a football game against rivals, not a event that effects the outcome of yours or anothers life.

That being said, both times I've been to IC I've gotten pelted in the head with a full beer can. It's not like this type of idiocy hasn't been surrounding this game. Unfortunately, it was a band member who was injured and the band director and Barta feel it is their duty to speak up. I don't blame anyone in this situation how they have acted (if the things stated here are true), I only blame the idiot who took it far too over the top towards an Iowa band member.

Just going to throw this out there but in the world of social media you would think some "details" would be leaking by now...

Okay so "groped" is not the correct term then. Groped usually refers to someone trying to come onto someone else. Physically assault is a completely different term and if that's what happened, it should be called out as such. Also, if that did actually happen I hope they find that person and never allow him/her back into JTC.
Thus why I bolded the second part of the post.

I think the abuse of the Iowa band is entirely possible. I witnessed a group of four Iowa State fans (wearing ISU shirts) who screamed "F*** Iowa" at two Iowa fans (wearing Iowa shirts) in the Hy-Vee parking lot in west Ames around 10:30 Saturday morning. This behavior was disgusting. The Iowa fans were just minding their own business. I apologized to the Iowa fans for the crude behavior of the ISU fans.

On the other hand, I've been at Kinnick wearing my school's colors (not ISU or for an ISU game) and the same thing was screamed at us by Iowa fans. We are proud of our school and wanted to support it by attending the game. We were just minding our own business, but as a consequence of our experience, we will never go back to Kinnick.

The behavior of fans at many college venues has really deteriorated over the 60 years or so we've been going to football games. Though we are ISU fans and supporters of the university, we have observed fans who have been rude, crude and downright despicable to the point where we will not attend football games any longer.

And, before someone writes that I am not tough enough, or "can't take it," I was an officer in the US military for over 20 years. I don't need someone to question my mental or physical toughness.
When we left the stadium at the end, there was a group of college-aged fans wearing **** state t-shirts and chanting the same. I'm going to go out on a limb and say there was much of that language, coming from both sides.
I participate in the annual **** Iowa thread, but I draw the line at wearing it on a t-shirt or shouting it at a game...just not my style. Some folks have different standards for behavior. Yes, it's crude. But it's also common.

Waiting for the facts is always the best policy.

Which Barta should have done before his press release.

Don't say he had the facts, because if he did he wouldn't have:

  1. Been vague on the release
  2. Asked ISU for further information (should have been done privately first, not publicly then absolutely no followup per Pollard's release)

No link, was told to me by a very reliable source that I trust implicitly. Take it or leave it but it will come to light soon.
One way or another. But for now, you're just spreading rumors...or expanding on them. Surely there is a hospital record of broken ribs?

This kids going to be doing some back pedaling

I have to ask, was the band member just minding his own business playing his instrument/casually chanting when this happened? I've got to assume the fan didn't just see the band member and attack him out of the blue.. I'm also not condoning any physical violence due to verbal confrontation.

Wow - color me not shocked whatsoever. So you have nothing witnessed by or reported to the police, nothing reported to ISU. **** for brains Barta goes straight for a vague press release as his first matter of action.

At best this is just a stupid man that continues his pattern of doing stupid ****. I can see him thinking he needs to show he's taking immediate action, so he does this. At worst, he's an inflammatory little ***** who also happens to be stupid.

I am not dismissing that SOMETHING happened. However, this is such a horrible way to address it. It serves zero good purpose for anyone. Investigate, get to the bottom of it, talk to the police, talk the ISU AD, etc. Get some ******* facts you stupid of piece of **** before you go straight to a public release. Doesn't serve any potential victims, doesn't help get to the bottom of anything.

Best thing we can do is not send the band, return all tickets and have no one show up for it. They can’t sell out without us there. It would be a large financial hit. When they come, don’t allow the band and go back to season tickets and season ticket members can buy the extra tickets. We would sell out.

Iowa has sold out games against four out of state opponents last year + this year. Iowa State has sold out zero. There is a school that needs the Cy-Hawk game to sell tickets, but it isn’t Iowa.

@dexterhawk just went silent. Coward just like @HOU_Blue @criticalobserver @yowza and rubberhead (can't tag, must have been banned lol). But as with all hacks who post here..

And they'll get owned again.

Your post is delusional and completely idiotic. I didn’t respond because it’s so ridiculous that it doesn’t warrant a serious response.
