Gameplan for Late Night Kick

How are you planning to handle the 9:15 kick?

  • Pre-game/afternoon nap

  • Liquor up

  • Coffee (or similar beverage)

  • Screw all of you, I'm going to the game

  • Gametime decision, might not make it to the end

  • Other (note below)

Alright, all you old farts like me. How you going to make it through the game Saturday?

Working a 530-1730 shift Saturday. So it's going to be tough to stay awake past midnight but I can always finish watching in the morning.

I tend to catch most of those late games as it is so will try to power through.

If ISU does the 'let's spend 3 quarters flailing around and then enter cheat code mode for the last 15' mode I may have to avoid it.

I said other as the kickoff time is 10:15 for me. So probably do light pregaming starting at 8-9, once dinner has time to settle. Then probably at half time, throw in a frozen pizza in the oven as a snack. Of course, keeping drinking so I fall right to sleep when the game is over.

Nap. Not sure exactly how I'll get it, as we're running up to the Twin Cities earlier in the day to get together with my nieces and nephew and then stopping in Rochester for an early dinner with friends on the way back. My wife prefers to drive due to her propensity for motion sickness, so there may be an opportunity in there for a car nap.

Realistically it will probably just be going to bed early Friday and then start boozing after I get the baby to sleep on Saturday night and see how long I make it.

I normally stay up until 12 or 12:30 on Saturday nights, but I also like to have about 3 beers in me at that point and get really freaking sleepy. Also, I never drink during games because I'm a nervous drinker and go through about 96 oz of water during a football game. That would not work well with beer.

So I have to decide if I'm going to have a couple beers after the game (staying up even later), or maybe if the game is in hand, maybe start around the 4th quarter, or just do my normal routine and watch it on Sunday. My main problem with that is that I have no willpower when it comes to checking scores.

Man, I don’t know what I will do. Wife is gone at girl’s weekend. I woke up last Sunday morning with the worst hangover I’ve had in years!! Tailgating started at 11 am and we got home around 12:30 am the next day. Never should have said “let’s stop for one more.”

Saying that, and I don’t know will be doing yet.

Going to bed at normal time (9:30), check the score when I get up in the night to take care of the baby (usually around 2am).

1. Drink a big glass of water before I go to bed at my normal time
2. Check the score when I get up for the 3:00 AM pee
