Home and away games are now scheduled with Bowling Green (2026-27) and Tulane (2028-29). We have not played either school since 1977 / 1979 and 1987 - 1989 / 1992 respectively.

(The 1987 Tulane game in New Orleans was Coach Walden's first game and was the same day that Pope John Paul II visited the city. I said hi to Jim as he and the team waited in front of the Marriott Hotel for the Pope's parade to pass by. I booked my New Orleans hotel room the day that the Papal visit was announced.)

I would like to know why we even entertain the idea of traveling to schools like Akron, Bowling Green, and Tulane
Are you cutting the check to make it a home game? Should only set you back a couple million.

And before someone pulls out the "Having a home game would justify the cost." JP is a (former I believe) CPA. Do you really think he doesn't know the numbers?

This program, under Campbell, should have no reservations about playing an away game against a non-P5 opponent...

- Completely winnable
- Great for targeted recruiting
- Super prep for the conference schedule
- Saves $$$'s for other things by not having to pay $1M to the visiting team

If we are going to play away games Vegas and New Orleans are about as good as it gets for fans.
Now if we can just drop the Iowa game and get some variety with P5 teams I’d be much happier.

If I remember correctly from a coaches corner show I believe JP said the game in Ohio was per the coaches wishes and the Tulane game was a destination game for the fans.

It's OK to have a winnable game on the road. You are only allowed 7 at home currently.

There is not a 7 home game limit. We could have 8 home games in the years we host 8 conference teams.

I like the idea of playing on Group of 5 Conference team on the road when we play Iowa in Ames, just for the simple fact that it (typically) gives our boys a chance to know what it's like to travel and get ready for a game.

From 2009-2029, that is the scheduling approach each odd year except for 2019.
