Future Big 12 FB Opponents/Schedule Announced

Does not appear to be ANY protected rivals or pods or anything. Just "here ya go" and mix it up.

Next year looks really favorable - very manageable schedule. Utah away will be a bear, and KU & WV won't be cakewalks. With most (all?) of a young team coming back, dare we think about CCG?

I will say, we ought to have a hissy fit about losing the Farmageddon in 2027. Why let high-vis rivalry games skip a year? BYU-Utah too for that matter. Maximize interest.

They protected Arizona/Arizona State, BYU/Utah, Kansas/Kansas State and TCU/Baylor.

i thought they were keeping at least one rivalry in tact for each team?

EDIT - i see it was asked before I saw it. but it seems weird that we wouldn't have a protected rivalry with K-State. There is a lot of histroy there it should probably be an actual trophy game.

Also, college-aged me would never believe the 2025 home schedule

3 - KSU (2/1)
3 - Cincy (2/1)
3 - UCF (2/1)

3 - OSU (1/2)
3 - WVU (1/2)
3 - Kansas (1/2)

2 - Baylor (1/1)
2 - Arizona (1/1)
2 - Tech (1/1)
2 - ASU (1/1)
2 - Utah (1/1)
2 - BYU (1/1)
2 - Houston (1/1)
2 - TCU (1/1)
2 - Colorado (1/1)
This is great! Thanks for putting it together. Not sure it could have been balanced. Much better. I like how it sets up.

The nation weeps as it learns two of the historically most awful college football programs will not play in 2027 (except they probably will be playing in the conference title game with a shot at the playoff on the line).

We've had better and more memorable games with Oklahoma St. recently (and they have no protected rival left either).

I get the gripe of breaking up rivalries, but with 16 teams in the conference, everybody should be expecting this. The last thing I want is unbalanced scheduling like what the Big Ten has had for the last decadeish.

However, the tweet above is kind of dumb. Either everybody gets one protected rivalry, or no one does.

Just an odd choice choosing to go with so few protected rivalries.

Like WVU\Cincy should be a protected one as well
My first instinct is that everyone should have one rival, but the reality is a some are going to have 2 (ie, K-State with KU + ISU) while others might not have one that really makes any sense at all. It sucks

I'm happy with getting a home & home with everyone at least every 4 years and they didn't go with pods another strategy that means some schools don't see each other very often at all.
