Fun Question: Pick a Rhoads Player

I just remember Knott making all the flashy plays and getting all the tackles. Then the noticeable drop off when he had to miss games and Jevohn Miller filled in.

Side note…think it must be brought up from time to time. While it’s true, Jevohn Miller struggled mightily to fill in when we needed him due to injury, that dude was having a GREAT year until Oklahoma’s ******** chop block that went uncalled. Felt sick to my stomach for Miller on that play.

Anyway…carry on.

With the transfer portal heating up, we are in play for a few key guys. We have some holes to fill for next season.

If you could pick one Rhoads era player to put on the 2022 team, who would you pick?

My vote is for KO. He’d instantly add beef and grit to the OL. Who do you pick?
KO on offense... and I'll go Lanning. Just a tough dude, could be part of a wild-cat package while playing LB etc.

I do recall him improving into a serviceable LB'er. Big shoes to fill, certainly. Don't recall the chop black, that sucks.

I was struggling to pick a player on the offensive side of the ball that was recruited and played under Rhoads. I went back and looked at Big12 All Conference Players during that era and wow we lacked talent compared to the Campbell era.

On defense the obvious are AJ Klein or Reggie George. With Knott just behind those guys. It's easy to forget AJ Klein was Big12 Defensive POY while a Cyclone.

On offense I will throw out a new name, Jamison Lalk. He was 2nd team All-Big12 as a senior and played center & guard during his career at ISU. More competition along the OL never hurts.

It was amazing how bad people criticized Miller on here, even into his senior year when he was playing well. Maybe the strangest thing was people somehow were watching our games (apparently) and were drawing the conclusion that Miller sucked and the younger Knott bro was really good. Maybe Knott would've ended up pretty good, but when they played at the same time Miller was ISUs best LB and it wasn't close.

Miller got a real raw deal on here. He and Richardson seemed to take the brunt of the Rhoads era folding.
