Found this on another site. It said Iowa State in one article but another article talks about an Iowa offer. Does anyone (recruiting experts) know if we are in on him? It would seam to me like our offense is going to need a true fullback. I would also think if Illinois is in on this kid that Golish?? may have had some contact with him during the fall.

Ranked as a state of Illinois top 30 player, could be interesting.

Don't know if we are in on him, but with Campbell's spread we certainly don't need a true fullback. Although I personally think it can add a good dimension to the offense, especially if you ever line up in an I-formation.

I believe his ISU offer came under this staff and they are trying to get him to visit. Can't remember for sure.

I'm an ISU fan.............what is this "I-formation" concept you speak of ?? Was it recently developed ?? Did our previous staff(s) know if its existence ?

You will have a "REAL" fullback in your offensve scheme if they can find one or develop one. A lighterweight defensive tackle or defensive end could be asked to make the change. My son was the HBack for Toledo the last four years. His last game was in the GODADDY Bowl. Your new offense when developed will use more power formations than I think any of you even expect [Personnel dictated]. When Toledo was running for all those yards the last three years, my son was in the game anywhere from 20 to 50 plays pers game. Allot of those plays even included a tight end as part of the package. By the way. In five years of watching Toledo, I saw one series of I formation, so I doubt it becomes a popular set for you guys. I base these comments on my five years of watching Toledo and my 30+ years of coaching at the high school level. You have hired an amazing staff. They will bust their tails to be successful, but will also build lasting relationships with their players. My son turned down a Harvard offer to play for these guys and has not regretted it one second.

solid read, would read again.

It seems to me this staff is doing exactly what you said it will.

bringmagicback,

Thanks for the kind comment. My son played HB at 270# and could still run pretty well his 5th year. Corners and linebackers didn't like him leading up through a hole. For that matter, neither did the linebackers or d ends. Your offense will become very physical once he can develop the line and HB positions. I came to expect 200 plus running days the last couple of years, even against the big boys. You have hired great young football minds who the players will adore. By the way, Campbell and staff will remove those players who are not on board and have selfish agendas. So, expect some players to disapeer after spring ball. From experience, this could even be very talented players if need be.

Depending on how much a FB is used you can also ask a LB to play a few snaps on offense, especially one who has HS RB experience. I believe McCArney did this for a season or two.

More recently I believe ISU has had TEs flex in to the FB position as needed. That being said, to have a big strong kid who hits the hole like a Mack truck and can catch the ball on occasion would be well worth a scholly.

Great to hear and excited to see that develop. Good luck against Temple tonight.
